The one thing I learned in all my business classes...never give something away for free. If you give it away for free, you cant go back and charge. If you charge, you can always lower costs. No one will take being charged something when it was previously offered for free.

The big one was the iPhone apps. No one is ever going to pay for those when so many were free and will continue to be free. I dont care how cool the app is, it wont be HUGE unless it is free to the subscriber.

But Im pretty sure they have always charged. If you never give away your info for free it is ok, but giving it for free and then charging is when viewers will go elsewhere.
