AP meant alot to OSU fans last year but this year its worthless?

This.

Last year the coaches poll doesn't rank OSU because of ineligibility. So the AP was interesting to OSU fans as it was the only one OSU could appear in.

But as far as practicality of the current system, the AP has no input into the selection formula at all. So yes, it is actually worthless.

I'd keep posting the polls as a seperate thread. To be frank, I hate general duscussion threads and having to wade thru other stuff for topics that sometimes spark a lot of comment. I was not surprised to see the Buckeyes drop a spot after a lackluster last 3 quarters against a mid major....it's not like they played the second team the second half either.

I personally agree with you and have stated the rationale of having to "wade thru" as why. But this site tends to like them. I was only mentioning the general thread in case he wanted to see what was already being said.

^^^gotcha ...That said...I hope people keep posting seperate threads for the polls as the season rolls on, even if it is just a 'football polls thread' that runs all season long.

Its not impressive however they did exactly what was asked, with the backup no less. Its laughable moving a team down after blowing out a team! Oregon gets all this love but tell me the last time their offense worked against teams like OSU?

I don't cosider Wisky elite...................My point on Oregon was they have all this flash and speed but it hasn't paid off in BCS wins.

Not even week 3 and people complaining about worthless polls. Play someone good and beat them 42 - 7 and if OSU drops, then you can complain.

At the end of the day a W is a W, the look of a W doesn't change if its 21-20 or 42-7, still looks like a W. I certainly remember the buckeyes not blowing anyone out mostly on route to the 02 title. Doesn't matter how you win, just win. Style points are stupid! Style doesn't win.

It isn't worthless as your position there will get you your position in the BCS poll. It is best to be ranked as highest as possible heading in!
