The dumbasses are hoping that the game threads will be unmoderated. This shouldn't happen, as fans of the opponents will be involved, and you know they will be attacked simply for being a fan of the opposite team.

Agreed. No way should that happen.

Oops. I missed this thread, here was my ide
I think someone should start all the Browns game threads super early in the week as Team X vs Cleveland Browns or Team X @ Cleveland Browns, and then claim that it's not a Browns game thread, but a Team X game thread LOL

(NOTE: drunk mod rant)
They will go unmoderated. Last person that tried to moderate those 3 retards was demoted for it.
We've never really got an explanation as to why their opinion mattered, and why they were basically given more of a say than us, given the opinion in the mod forum was to get rid of them and not fly, and that the poll was retarded as shit. We've never really been given an indication as to what was done wrong to necessitate a demotion, or how it veered from protocol. Thus, what is our protocol, or the marching orders going forward? I don't know what to moderate anymore other than banning bots and blatant "fuck off"s.
I know it's dead in summer, and that this was a holiday weekend, but for week 1 of HS FB and CFB there was fucking NO ONE on here. I think it has more to do with the above mess than the calendar. Football always brings people back here, and it hasn't.

I agree fly should've never been demoted, and giving them a say was the worst thing you could possibly do. Also, wasn't the vote done over a weekend? So us that have lives weren't here, and those guys that live vicariously through there alternate personalities on this website were all over it.ts1227;1494391 wrote:(NOTE: drunk mod rant)

I guess I'd say that I don't know if giving the masses a vote on a mod's status was a good idea, but there were people who aren't aligned with LT, CoA, etc. who were taking the same "fuck this guy" stance on Fly (Curly, Devil's Advocate are the two who mainly jump out at me). It was turning into a pure shit-show all the way around. I don't think Fly was helping his case because he'd always defend himself with wordy replies that came off as pretentious to a lot of people. At some point, when dealing with assholes who constantly bitch at/about you, you about have to just be like, "Fuck it...I'm doing things according to the rules, Justin hasn't said anything critical of how I'm doing it, so go fuck yourselves, you little bitches!" And then laugh at how they cry because the tables were turned on them.
I think a big part of the problem isn't any one or two people, but just how there's no shortage of people capable of making things annoying to others.
QuakerOats is spreading his retarded bullshit to places outside the Poli forum, so any damn topic in SB that pertains to current events in the world is getting politard'd.
Tiernan is just a class A douche and he's everywhere now being a loud asshole.
That Tigerfan guy seems to love busting balls, but he just fucking sucks at it and hardly ever comes up with anything funny or even worth paying attention to. Just one poorly executed threadshit after another.
And so on and on. It seems like the big problem is how we have all the region's short-bus assholes, so it comes off like a bunch of short-tempered idiots yelling at each other all the time. Which doesn't do much for overall traffic.

Sorry for opening a can of worms, but I saw a post somewhere and my hammered ass decided to come and vent a little.
I'm definitely not saying fly was without sin, but I don't think there was a fatal error made, or nothing that couldn't have been addressed with him (maybe it was via PM?). But the whole situation would suggest he did something way worse than CoA or l_t ever did, which I would assume is not the case.
But I think a lot of the retards are going somewhat unchecked, as I think there is a hesitancy to moderate anything beyond a slam dunk issue/anything involving the 3 annointed ones due to the situation.

I know Ive cut back on moderation, mostly, imo, because I see stuff that isnt moderated that is equal or worse on threads that are a few days old and have Mods posting in them.
If those posts are ok, the ones Im debating between should be also. I think that is the biggest problem.

I'm not sure anyone knows what should or shouldn't be moderated these days. When was the last time someone actually received an infraction?Laley23;1495053 wrote:I know Ive cut back on moderation, mostly, imo, because I see stuff that isnt moderated that is equal or worse on threads that are a few days old and have Mods posting in them.

It's been a long time. I honestly feel like the infraction system was a fail experiment. It did nothing to change the habits of those that received them.se-alum;1495299 wrote:I'm not sure anyone knows what should or shouldn't be moderated these days. At this point I'm taking a "hands off" approach to moderation. Unless something obviously egregious comes through the pipeline I'm letting it go. My change in heart comes from being completely burned out from the whole fly4fun saga. I was in a "lose-lose" situation. Fly stays on, the bitching continues, people boycott, blah, blah, blah. I let fly go and I get bitched at behind closed doors by you guys. The 2nd option was more desirable to me, since when you guys bring it up at least it's not public and you aren't assholes about it. I also haven't had time to be around much lately.

I think thread banning is the way to go as long as they are displaying a complete disregard for keeping the thread constructive. With sage I am sure your reasons were 100% legit. He's a turd.LJ;1495318 wrote:I thread banned Sage the other day....

Sage is one of the most interesting people here. Because when you count the Huddle years, a lot of us have been around each other for like a decade or more online. And he might be the only one whose been around for a long time who hasn't shown any emotional growth. If anything, he's regressed, since pretty much everything he does is a "LOUD NOISES TO GET ATTENTION!!!" thing.justincredible;1495319 wrote:I think thread banning is the way to go as long as they are displaying a complete disregard for keeping the thread constructive. I have been thread banning (I honestly think that is WAY better than infractions).
I just think we need to know what a set "rule" is to thread ban. A lot of time it is obvious with the trolling and the assholeness, but...not always.

I think if it's obvious you thread ban. If it isn't obvious you can report it and get a consensus. So long as multiple mods agree it deserves a ban I think it's okay to thread ban. If it's reported and no one else thinks it deserves action then let it go.
