The 2013 team vs 1984 team. Which is the best? Parish, Gibson, Trammel, Whitaker, Morris, Evans, Hernandez, just to mention a few. All Stars everyone of 'em. A 35-5 start speaks volume which is why my choice would be the 1984 team.

I think Adam Dunn is the answer to this one.

I don't know that you can even remotely compare the two at this time. The '84 team was simply a great team. This year's team, regardless of how much talent they have, was essentially a barely-above-mediocre team as far as on-field results until suddenly getting red-hot after the All-Star break.

How dare you question this years Tigers team? You must not know shit about sports. Thread ban yourself.Heretic;1486483 wrote:I don't know that you can even remotely compare the two at this time. I compare them based mainly on this years starting pitching. No Tiger team ever had 5 really good starters like these guys. Still my choice is the '84 team. And yeah the '68 team has to be in the mix also.Heretic;1486483 wrote:I don't know that you can even remotely compare the two at this time. The '84 team was simply a great team. I would take this year's team over the original dream team with Jordan and Bird. I mean, have you seen that lineup...wow

Look at it this way. In 1985, you had multiple All-Star selections. But those were the only selections from the team. This year, you had multiple All-Star selections. But it would have been all 25 plus some AAA players had the Tigers not been kind enough to let other teams have their players represent.
2013 wins this easily.
