Been watching baseball for longer thanI care to say and Cabrera is far and away the best hitter that I have seen. Some experts say the best since Ted Williams. He gets no infield hits because of lack of speed. If I were an opposing mgr. Cabrera would get walked much more. Maybe that will happen soon, mainly because he will NOT swing at bad pitches and he hits strikes like nobody else in baseball.

Sorry but he is NOT far and away better than Pujols was in his St Louis days. Probably on par, MAYBE a little better, but far and away is absurd.

He is very good, but I think Manny in his day was just as good

He is the best I've seen, but Pujols easily has a case as best in this generation alone. No way is he far and away the best. Manny was a beast as well for a good stretch of time.

Yeah, like others have said. In the "right here and now", it's a no-doubter that Miggy's the best, but you don't have to go back far to have Pujois, who was the best and at a level at or above Miggy's current level. I think that saying he's far and away the best is kind of getting into ESPN/SportsCenter talk where whoever is the best at any one moment is The Greatest Ever (slight exaggeration, but that's often how they portray things where "IN THE NOW" is the only thing that matters).

I didn't include guys like Manny and Bonds because of cheating.

Bonds was the best I've seen....but Cabrera is working his way there. Pujols about the same....Manny close but a touch below IMO.

My guess is Pujols was/is clean. He has had a natural dropoff with age, coupled with injuries that PEDs were masking/preventing.Ironman92;1486048 wrote:Bonds was the best I've seen....but Cabrera is working his way there. Pujols about the same....Manny close but a touch below IMO.

That term may have been a bit over the top. That said, he is the best hitter in baseball today. If not him, who then??
If your watching your seeing greatness.

But before him Pujols was the best and we were watching history. Before him, Manny. Before him, Bonds.
Miggy is having historical Back-To-Back seasons. But he hasnt touched what Pujols or Bonds did over a decade. Manny has never had a season like Miggy but over the career, was a bit better at a younger age.

SMH @ OP "far and away"
To the OP: read this, and STFU
http://espn.go.com/blog/statsinfo/post/_/id/16954/albert-pujols-decade-of-dominance
He is currently the best hitter in baseball though, and a certain HOF if he's never caught roiding (I'm not saying he is, I'm saying if he's caught he's not HOF).

If Cabrera keeps it up he will have a better season than Pujols ever had but still what these guys have done as long as they have is really incredible. Cabrera is still 3 years younger than him however as he just turned 30

At this point, it is ballsy to say any of these guys aren't juicing. Time will tell

Fair or not, skepticism is now part of our sports culture. As mantooth said, time will tell.wes_mantooth;1488641 wrote:At this point, it is ballsy to say any of these guys aren't juicing. Time will tell
