My wife sent me this pic while I was golfing Friday at 4. Gas company came and found no leak so they'll be back Monday. It's about 6' in diameter and 6 feet deep. What could cause this? And what should I expect tomorrow?

First, you need to cut your grass! lol Second, I don't know what would cause that, hope this helps!

I was in Atlanta all week for work. So the grass was a little long and I also didn't get too close to the hole yesterday when I did mow so its still long.

Live in the city. The gas line is 4 feet down in the center of the hole but the hole is much deeper. Not sure where exactly the water line comes in but it's on that side of the house. The first pic is taken from our porch the neighbors house is in the background.

If that hole is over the gas line I don't care what the gas company says, I'd make them double-check. wowsers!

An old well? My in-laws had a similar looking sink hole but no gas line....and it was where an old water well was.

Yeah my wife talked to them so I'm going to make sure I'm there tomorrow to talk to them. They didn't tell her anything except no leak be back Monday

Old sepic tank or old well caved in. I had this happen at my house in Perrysburg.

If you live in Stark county this could be also a old mining cave ....

Is your house built on a land fill?

I filled it with big stones and cement blocks covered it with top soil a planed a tree... hope this helps.

Looks like one of your wife's footprints. I hope it swallows your whole house with you and Rmolin still in it.

I had to chase Reno off twice this weekend...something about smelling a fresh dug grave and needing a place to cover up the scum that is Big Red.

Gas company just left...put a pvc pipe over their line and said they'd never seen anything like it...5 ton of dirt gone....but its not something their line caused so now I wait for the city.

I don't see how a gas leak would case that - the dirt has to go somewhere. Especially if you can't smell it, I don't see how there'd be enough pressure to cause any erosion.

I'd say a water leak somewhere or, most likely, the explanation Belly gave.
