It was nice we had a chance to be in the AL Central race after this weekend. But, at the end of the day, through all the dissapointment, all this series is doing is making us realize quicker its a race for the WC. Which isnt all bad since thats what 90% of us were thinking all along anyway.

That is the goal, and I would have said that even before this series started.

We make the play-offs as a WC......that is huge.

It is bittersweet. I mean, we have absolutely no shot of doing anything in the playoffs if we somehow get there. still better than last year...I guess. I just hate being like the Minny teams from a few years ago and the Reds the last few years. I honestly won't be nervous if they get in because I expect nothing. The weak schedule really helps our chances though.

To follow that up, I think to have a "puncher's chance" in the playoffs you have to have a legitimate ace and a power hitter that can put you on his back for a series or two....we have neither. Don't get me wrong, I like Masterson, but he is not elite....just very good.

I agree, but its nowhere near bittersweet to me. I didnt expect us to be in contention for the WC till next year. This gives us an extra year of "contention" and next year we can realistically challenge Detroit if they make some more moves.

I havent looked at the FAs, but we need a big bat more than pitching imo because Santana hasnt developed into a power hitter (which is fine) and Swisher isnt a middle of the order guy (I think he was so good in NY because he was hitting 6th with little pressure).

Wow...we lose two games and you guys are packing it in.

I'll be there tomorrow to break the 2 game losing streak.

Worse than the 2 games lost...is the loss of Kluber:(....probably for a month at least.

It's not packing it in. It is just disappointing. To be playing so well vs everybody else and just not getting it done vs Detroit is frustrating. Certainly the race isn't over. We are always a Tigers 5 game losing streak away from being right there. Any team can go cold for a week. Hopefully they have a bad stretch and help us out. End of the day...3 runs in 2 games isn't going to get it done.

Masterson is 0-3 with a 7+ ERA versus the tigers this year. looks like Salazar should be making spot starts for him against the tigers too.

The only way the indians are going to gain any ground on the tigers is if they beat them head to head. 3-11 isnt going to get it done with only 5 left to play against them.

Last year at this time the division looked like this:

Chicago 60-48
Detroit 59-50
Cleveland 50-59

The only way the indians are going to gain any ground on the tigers is if they beat them head to head.

Just disappointing after playing so well heading into this series and the potential to ride the momentum.

Definitely need to get at least 1 win and hopefully 2 as we may be out 3.5 in the WC the way the Rangers are playing.
