I've still got 11 episodes to get caught up on and I don't know if I'll make it, so I'll be avoiding this thread from here on out.

I watched the first 4 (5?) seasons again...I must have missed it, but when did Walt get that book from the chicken king? Also, would the cartel really not suspect Walt in his murder? He'd already taken out most of the Mexican mafia, so they'd have to wonder who helped the old man (and presumably someone with technical skills).

Gale gave him the book when he worked with Walt.

I'm looking forward to the season, and cautiously optimistic. I hope the writers don't go too far out, which at times it did last season.

YEAH BITCH!

I've been watching all the seasons on Netflix... finished season 4 last week and the next day they had put season 5 on there. Just got me even more pumped for next week after watching season 5 again.

Any bold predictions? My guess: the series finale comes down to Walt, just dozens of feet from an escape into Mexico, encounters Hank for a final standoff ... Hank, now very much attached to Walt and Skyler's children (and knowing that Skyler's happiness very much affects his wife's life), decides to let Hank escape rather than be the hero. What say you??

I think Hank lets Walt go at the end...but I bet it is an "up in the air" type thing. Where we dont actually know. Not as gay as a fade to black (Sopranos)...but similar.

Extremely lame and lazy. How can you be such a great writer and not come up with anything??

I think Walt ends up dead or in jail. He started all this for his family, and because he though he had a death sentence. The tragic irony would be a clean bill of health just as he's about to go to the slammer for life. All that after losing someone in his family and realizing it was a horrible decision = genuine remorse but he still has to pay his price to society.

Alternatively he's on the run, all alone, miserable and slowing dying from his cancer. Final shot of Walt in some cheap motel in the middle of nowhere, coughing up blood and holding a gun in his hand.

Walt is filled with lead. He goes down guns blazing with the M60 in the trunk.

I feel like Walt lives but loses everything around him. I think the irony would be starting this to support his family and ultimately losing all of them.

Also - I don't think Hank can really do much considering he used all that drug money to get better. No way anyone believes he didn't know. Just my opinion.

That's a good point. And even though Hank has seen guys "hiding in plain sight", you figure he "knows" Walt better. It won't be a quick or easy decision for Hank. If anything, Hank would probably just assume Hank is the chemist and not a kingpin, and thus try to get him to deal. And, obviously, the problem is there is no one for Walt to roll on.

Wouldn't be surprised is Walt sold out Jesse at some point. Also, since it's the final season, no reason not to kill off some main characters, like Hank. Walt might kill Hank and have it look like another cartel hit.

Flipping on Jesse isn't going to work - he'll never be mistaken for a mastermind. And I just can't see killing Hank - Walt has done some crazy things but I don't see him doing that to family.

I'm not sure Gustavo's Cartel friends (the real ones from SA) won't come back into play. That's one scenario that Walt could play the "I just cooked so I could save some money for my family" card.

Walt already said it doesn't end well for him in an interview. Vince Gilligan said he cried writing the final episode.

Kinda crazy to think that he was supposed to be killed off early on...considering how popular he is
