Anyone go back to school after turning 30? My wife started her masters degree at age 30 and, if things go the way we are both hoping, I will be going back for at least a certificate (horticulture) starting next fall. She will hopefully be going back to work at UC this year which would make her degree free (going forward) and I would be able to attend classes and only pay taxes on the value of the education.

I went back for my MSEE at 25 and I felt old on campus. I couldn't imagine going back now at 31.

Been trying to talk my wife about going back to get her teaching certificate renewed. She let it expire and only needs 9 credit hours to get it back. She's dragging her feet on it and it drives me nuts.

I got my MBA at 42 and always chuckled at how "old" I was even back then compared to the other students in my classes. Good Luck to Mrs. J.

The average full-time MBA probably varies by program, but I would guess it's around 28. I imagine part-time programs are a bit older.

Started back last August and I am turning 39 this year. It is quite different from the first time and turns out to be a little easier.

Would it be creepy to attend campus parties and hit on hot, young co-eds?

Started back last year at 30 going for my 2nd degree and have one more semester to go. It's weird going to school with kids who were born when I was in jr high, man.
And I don't even bother flirting with girls at school....I don't want to be that guy

I had a couple of them hit on me (I know...cool story bro) but I think they were more interested in me helping them get a job at my company after they found out where I worked at the time.justincredible;1481252 wrote:Would it be creepy to attend campus parties and hit on hot, young co-eds?

He would have had to get a big time age waiver to get in at that age. The guy coulda been blowing smoke as well, and most likely was. If I had a dime every time someone said they were trying for SF, etc, I would be a rich man. It actually wasn't too bad. It was a summer cycle so it was hot but ya delt with it because, well, ya had no other option. It was more mental stress than anything else and to be honest, I would go through it again.Tiernan;1481279 wrote:Now THAT is ballsy. Going to school, even for horticulture, seems like a waste of time and money when you are homesteading.

Really? It seems like the perfect thing to learn about when my long term goal is to become more self sustainable, i.e. gardening like a mother fucker. Especially when I only have to pay the taxes on the education.Pick6;1481334 wrote:Going to school, even for horticulture, seems like a waste of time and money when you are homesteading.

Meh. I mean I guess if you have no experience at all in it. Still think its something you can learn first hand and pick up quite quickly. Its been done for how many years before us with no schooling?justincredible;1481350 wrote:Really? I guess I don't really see why you'd care what I spend my time and money on. Again, it's going to be a pretty cheap way to possibly learn some things I might not pick up on my own. I really don't see the harm. But fuck me, right?Pick6;1481369 wrote:Meh. I mean I guess if you have no experience at all in it. Went back at 30 to finish my teaching credentials. I had a bachelors already, but needed the teaching certification courses. Took me 2 years working nights as a bartender.
