The article isn't as bad as the quote. What he is saying, poorly, is that there is a standard way to ready the ball for play, and that there is a new coach who wants to speed it up isn't a valid reason to do so. They are correct in that regard.

His offense will have less plays in the NFL simply by the timing rules. In the NFL, the clock restarts when the ball is spotted after plays that are out of bounds (except for last 2 of the half, final 5 of the game) whereas in college the clock stops until the next snap on certain plays. At first I thought maybe they were talking about the substitution rules in the NFL, but I know college has them as well as I think it was Ohio U who got fucked on an end of half FG last year.

I almost think that Chip may see that in the NFL, the line between winning and losing is so much more fine than in college. There will be so many more close games that there will be so many times that when his team has the ball he will kinda rethink things and want to slow it down a bit to keep the other offense off the field. Lets face it, in college there are enough times that you are just that much better than your opponent and you can do whatever you want for the most part so hell yeah, run out there and get as many plays in because you know the other team doesn't have a realistic chance of taking advantage of things. Kinda like playing a football game on sega against the computer. Get the kickoff and run back to the one so you can get more yards because you know you will win, just padding stats. But if you are playing against someone who is good ya don't wanna do that!
