High pitch count, but he def could have gone another inning. he was around 95 pitches

Dusty is just retarded w/ trusting him and Leake

Reds finish the 1st half at 53-42

Very strange season so far. Record is good, but Reds fans can't feel good about our chances come October.

I think he trusted him but wanted to get his bullpen a lot of work. Cingrani got hosed in the 2nd inning but he brought a lot on himself.....he let his emotions affect him.

Chapman is throwing so hard because it's the fist time his parents have seen him in 3 1/2 years.....that's fucking awesome.

Seen him, or seen him pitch?

Glad to end the first half with a W. Just like last year, the Reds open up the second half with a big series with a team near the top of the division. Last year, the Reds were able to sweep the Cardinals and begin their second half dominance.

Let's hope that happens again this year against the Pirates.

They said it's the first time his parents had seen him in 3 1/2 years.

I have a Braves fan who was telling me despite 2 saves, I need to be worried about Chapman. I laughed. He's allowed an ER in 3 of the last 4 games. Twice, he's allowed a man on, defensive indifference has gotten the guy to 2nd, and then a single scores him. Now sure, he's still giving up some hits, but it's certainly a big difference when you need 3 hits to beat rather than 2.

Today's run was simple. He had a 5-run lead. He was throwing all fastballs. There was no reason to mess with a breaking ball, or show another contender all your pitches in a meaningless situation. He got beat by a good, young FB hitter, who hit an impressive FB up at 99 for a HR. It wasn't a fluke. It was pulled into LCF. Still, Chapman doesn't worry me. He's throwing better than he has in a long time.

Yea Chapman is probably the person I worry about the least. Also, Choo has been amazing lately. VERY glad to see him hitting well again.

Pitch count, and 4 days off for the rest of the BP so why not? I kinda thought that Atlanta rigged the gun when he was hitting 102+ the other night. He was throwing 102 and 103 and didn't strike out a guy, and even through some good breaking balls in that outing as well, and there have been games when he was throwing 97-98 and hitters couldn't catc up.

But Kimbrel was only hitting 99mph

Why would they rig the gun or mph for Chappy?

It was just a thought at the time, I didn't really believe it actually.
