Never thought Ironman would be the one to not start the thread after a win, usually it's up before can even get out "and this one belongs to the reds!"

0-0, thru 3

The 11 extra pitches Latos had to throw to pitch around the single on the Choo mis-judged fly ball cost hime most of the pitch count advantage he had over Darvish.

Why doesn't Cozart let the Bruce throw come to the base and try to tag the runner out, instead of going out toward Bruce and losing his chace to cut down the runner trying for a double?

Mesoraco moved everything but his ***** out of the way on that squeeze play. Talk about wimping out, dropping the ball and allowing now, an all-important 2nd run in.

Why would you not intentionally walk there to set up the double play?

That was not a hit on the suicide squeeze! It was a fielder's choice and a wrong choice that makes the lead 2-0 instead of 1-0, and uses up even more pitches.

While true, it was a play (and inning) that should have netted only 1 run. Sloppy, sloppy defense, and Latos can really only blame himself on that and the bunt hit to start the inning.

2 runs is much bigger than 1 against Darvish and the Texas pen.

I would made Xavier sac bunt there. Would have gotten at least one run. But nope double play instead

The Rangers show how to play real defense there...

Jesus fucking Christ, Paul. You HAVE to get a run in in that situation.

Between him and Mesoraco, this game is starting to piss me off

You mean squeeze? Unfortunately, it's the Reds...very few guys can put down a bunt on command in that situation.

Paul with so much of a personal victory to avoid the K that AB, but it worked out so much worse for the team, ending a promising inning with no runs. He should have take one of those two high breaking balls and hit it to left, rather than trying to pull the ball! Way less chance of the double play that way.

One real problem is...the Reds are playing in the AL today. It's sad when Xavier Paul is relied upon to be your LF or DH in any situation. 2 years ago the guy wasn't even an MLB player...

It's going to be 8th inning or bust. Top of the order, you're going to get the Texas pen prior to Nathan.

Unfortunately, it's likely to be another Latos start where he lowers his ERA and doesn't get a win (and will get a loss).

It's not weak. You just can't have an opinion on our terrible catcher or you'll get argued with

What are the odds that extra run allowed in the 6th kills this game?

Wow. Guy gets yanked after going 2-0. Smart move by Washington, IMO. This kid was cooked facing Bruce with a 2-0 count.

Would Dusty have had the balls to pull the plug in the middle of a count?

What are the odds that we lose 3-2, because of Paul's inability to get a run in from 3rd w/ 1 out?

Well, you have to have 2 goals in mind after that sac fly. At the minimum...

1. Make it 3-2.
2. Get the top of the order to the plate in the 9th.

If that guy in RF can throw that good, why not go for an easier runner to get, and one that means a lot more(Votto for a run rather than a runner trying to get to 3rd base with 2 out).

Bit longer throw and tougher body angle having to go home than 3rd. I kinda agree though. Risky move by BP paid off.
