I believe that removing F4F will do absolutely nothing to improve the site. I think MOST people understand this. But a very small vocal group is making it a huge fucking pain in the ass.

Do you mind, finally, giving an explanation to why F4F is a good mod and improves the forum's viewership and adding members?

I just don't see how he really helps, but if you have an explanation I'd be down to opening up my opinion about it. I've just never heard one good thing about him and what he does.

You should temporarily remove him and see.

Only if I can temporarily remove you and COA before or afterwards to compare.

There is no swaying anything or a flawed poll.

You could start 100 polls of the same thing with different wording, some with names and some without. They will all turn out the same...
Agreed.

Most of us are simply unaffected by F4F's alleged heavy-handed moderation. I simply wouldn't know the difference. All I see is people complaining about it in every thread and it is lame as hell.

Who knew grown men care so much about message board moderation? And, it's not like we're having mind-blowing conversations here...mostly casual, entertaining banter that passes time at work and yet some of these guys bitch and moan like it's the NSA shutting down their free speech rights.

God damn cry babies. You are doing a fine job here Justin. I dont agree with a lot of what the mods do but rules are rules they are not that hard to follow.

Exactly, so we must have Nazi moderation to moderate these casual, entertaining posts!!!!

That's exactly the problem, BoatShoes. This isn't a forum that needs heavy moderating, yet we have it. The moderation should match the vision of the forum; and F4F is the complete opposite. He's always so serious (I mean he posts 5 paragraph posts about practically nothing just to get one small point across) and stern, yet that isn't the theme of this forum.

My 2 cents

That's the thing. If you aren't being a total dick you won't be affected by any moderation. At all. So maybe learn to let things go. Just because you don't like someone doesn't mean you have to bring it up in almost every single thread.

Basement banning somebody for creating a somewhat similar but not the same thread (because people wanted hasbeen and I part of the discussion) is pretty damn petty.

As a whole, no. But some posters do unfairly get bant, sent to the basement, thread banned.

Hell, you gave me an infraction because I said, "GTFOOHWTS"

Then I got bant for a month because I called thavoice, who knows we just go back and forth with each other on Reds threads, an asshole.

Give me a break, Justin. I could post dozens of times where someone was given an infraction simply because the mods didn't like the poster. It's not overall heavy moderation, but there are certain posters that get hit with it.

Perhaps certain posters create the most "problems" so they are dealt with differently? It has nothing to do with not liking someone. I like you, but I've given you an infraction before. There are very few people I've actually given infractions to or thread/basement banned that I don't actually like having around (most of the time). Also, infractions haven't been handed out in months. Many, many months. And likely won't be used again.

I like this site still. It has decent variety but not every thread is for everyone of course. I wish the Reds and Steelers threads had more to them....but it's fine. Life is pretty good and regardless of this poll or future of this site it has provided many many hours of enjoyment away from the stresses of life. I'm different than like_that and COA and it's ok. They don't agree with 3 or 4 types of things I'm about and it goes both ways. I'd prefer they not harp on the moderation quite so much...but I have other choices, I can always start a cheesy thread with little chance to deliver...but also interesting where they sometimes go.

Basically SAID contributed nothing to ETB's workout thread. He decided to post pictures of HS boys. Hasbeen called him out for it, so did I. Granted, I was being a dick (yes I know you are going to highlight that), but he was taking away from the conservation and BR/AZ provide good shit to those workout threads. So we both get thread banned. ETB requested we get back in the thread if we behave, and we were going to behave, but cry4fail didn't allow it. So I started a new health thread for hasbeen and I to discuss. My thread started to get way more discussion than ETB's (even etb was using my thread). Then cry4fail decided to merge my thread to ETB's so hasbeen and I couldn't post there. I proceeded to make 2 different threads in which c4f deleted and then proceeded to basement ban me for 24 hours.

On top of this, he also deleted 4 of hasbeen's posts (as well as mine), because we disagreed with him on another thread. Say what you want, but he does abuse his mod powers to troll.

We lost 2 good posters because they were obviously joking with each other and F4F bant them for calling each other names. DW & Hoops. I would much rather have Hoops & DW still around. They brought the fun to this site. With F4F lurking around every corner (and from wehat I've been told stared an entire thread QQing in the mod forum about me trying to get me bant) trying to throw his e-weight around. He clearly has an agenda and ruins the site for me. Even if he wasn't a mod, he would still totally suick ass, but least then we could have some fun with him and not worry about him removing my posts all the time (which he does at least a few times a week if I disagree with him). He's a rogue mod and should be delt with. My .02 cents

Moderating is a pretty difficult thing to do and I wasn't very good at it honestly. There are posters that are way too sensitive about there teams or whatever and then there are the posters that smell the blood in the water and fuck with them. My approach was always to let everything go pretty much or try to diffuse the situation without the banning. There are a couple of posters on here that I just banned to fuck with them because they added nothing to the site but just aggravation to people. I think as a moderator, it is a no win situation...not going to make everyone happy.
