This is fairly lengthy but I think worth it.
There is a big sign near our Walmart that reads "Lost Dog...Big and Black"...we make fun of it for being so vague. Anyways tonight after dinner we see a very large and older looking black dog at a gas station blocks off the main drag. We immediately as a family know this is the big and black lost dog. Another woman has already stopped trying to lure him in with white powered donuts....she had the phone number for the people. The dog wouldn't come to get and crossed the street.....the owners were on their way and she had to go but gave my wife the bag of powered donuts. My wife got the big old dog to come to her in a nearby yard. The dog was wanting to walk away but she was afraid to leave it.......15 min later the owners hasn't came. This dog is very thirsty so I drive home (5 min) to get some water and doggy treats. During this time the thought to be owners arrive, but it is not their dog??? My wife calls the pound to come get the dog. As she's calling my son goes and knocks on the door to see if the owner knows of this big dog.....and of course the dog was theirs! My wife fed that dog the entire bag of powered donuts to keep him in his own yard. Big black dog with a white powered face. Lol We took a longtime family pet and fed it about the worst thing possible in their yard.

Haha my sister in law did the same thing. She was driving and saw a ratty looking dog running around. She made her husband get out of the car and get the dog. They took it to a vet about a mile away. The next day they drove by and saw a sign for the missing dog and realized the yard they took it from was its own yard. They drove to the vet picked up the dog and returned it without telling the owners they stole it. The funny part is the owners said their electric fence had always worked before. So not only did they steal the dog they probably shocked the poor thing to.
