States are starting to roll out details about the exchanges, providing a look at just how affordable coverage under the Affordable Care Act will be. Some potential participants may be surprised at the figures: $2,000 deductibles, $45 primary care visit co-pays, and $250 emergency room tabs.
Those are just some of the charges enrollees will incur in a silver-level plan in California, which recently unveiled an overview of the benefits and charges associated with its exchange. That's on top of the $321 average monthly premium.

So much for "Affordable" Care Act.

By comparison...that actually is "affordable" compared to how much insurance companies have been raping people before. I remember when my wife was looking into coverage before she got onto my plan and the best she found was $600-$700/month premiums with a $5,000 deductible.

Perhaps your wife should lose some weight.

How much do you recommend a 96 pound woman to lose to make that original quote more affordable? Keep in mind, she's a non-smoker.

She didn't look very well. I was paying about $5500 a year with $2500 deduct able for my family when I went out and found it on my own

She talked with quite a few different companies. Don't remember how many exactly. But I know she didn't just look at one or two companies and then called it quits.

It's pretty impressive that you got that price considering the insurance that I have through work to cover my wife and I runs me about $7,000/year with a $1,000 deductible for us. Since it's generally much cheaper to have insurance through your employer rather than getting it on your own, you must have blown the insurance rep to get that pricing.

We did not opt to get maternity coverage as we were not having childern and were actively planning on not having childern. When you get coverage through an employer, federal law requires maternity coverage be included and that basically doubles the cost. www.Ehealthinsurance.com was very helpful for all of it

You could take all the big black dicks out of her for starters.

That would probably help. Not sure why she keeps them stored there, anyways. But I'll make that recommendation. Thanks!

I was looking for Gap Coverage after I graduated college, and it was min $110 a month with a $10k deductible. Non smoker 21 yrs old in excellent health. Cobra at my old place was min $450 a month, $1600+ for a family. This is "affordable".

Or you could do what most healthy 21 year olds do and not have insurance. Now I know what you are saying, "but sleeper what if i get sick?!". If that happens you do what poor people do and you pay $.01 indefinitely on your medical bills each month. As long as you are paying something they won't go to collectors. It's EZ.

Maybe if Americans didn't send a black president into a white world, we wouldn't be in this situation.

Ah, yes. It is the poor people's fault. Who knew, the absolutely powerless actually held all the power?

Some real astute reasoning going on here, boys.

The poor are being punished by God. Just like how you were punished by having a low IQ.
