If you can get past the title and give this an honest read, I think it is quite interesting. I know for myself, when I look around at family and friends, it does seem to hold quite true.
- Men who are physically strong are more likely to have right wing political views.
- Weaker men more likely to support welfare state and wealth redistribution.
- Link may reflect psychological traits that evolved in our ancestors.
- Strength was a proxy for ability to defend or acquire resources.
- There is no link between women's physical strength and political views.
Read the article: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-2325414/Men-physically-strong-likely-right-wing-political-views.htmlMen who are physically strong are more likely to take a right wing political stance, while weaker men are inclined to support the welfare state, according to a new study.
Researchers discovered political motivations may have evolutionary links to physical strength.
Men's upper-body strength predicts their political opinions on economic redistribution, according to the research.

This sentence confuses me. Does it not mean that less wealthy men who are also strong support wealth redistribution?the data revealed that wealthy men with high upper-body strength were less likely to support redistribution, while less wealthy men of the same strength were more likely to support it.

Think it means they support it only moreso than strong men who are also wealthier. But, a dainty man who is also poor will support social insurance, etc. more so than a strong man who is poor.FatHobbit;1443634 wrote:This sentence confuses me. Makes evolutionary sense as in the cave the strong man could gather the food. The dainty nerd cave men had to hope for their mercy.
Interesting because in this day and age...the dainty nerd (think Bill Gates) is the one who capitalism rewards with the food. So you have strong men who aren't quite as wealthy changing the trend and supporting social insurance slightly more than strong men who are wealthy.
