Does Gander Mountain sell live bait? If not, no doubt one of their employees would know where to get minnows

I'll be out with my dad on Hoover saturday. Let me know if you head that way and maybe we can meet up and I can show you some of the good lesser known bank fishing spots (I grew up about 5 minutes from Hoover and have fished there my whole life)

Sorry you and your dad couldn't make it. Had to eat your pizza and drink your brews. Then a friend gave me a stringer full of crappies he was to tired to clean. The fillets are in my freezer now.... Hope you and your dad did good and had a good time. Enjoy your time with him now because you will never get it back.

You fellas use a fish fryer? What kind?

This thread makes me suddenly want to have a fish fry.

said_aouita, We just got another fryer this year. GE makes it (I'll get back to you with the model). Easiest fryer I've ever used. Thermostat and timer on it. Fish fillets, chicken, wings, shrooms, fries and even veggies (which I don't like).

I use peanut oil in mine.

McCormick makes a "Beer Batter Seafood Mix" that you wouldn't believe. Easy to use and you can season (hot) as much as you want to. I get mine at Kroegers in the seafood area. Throw your fries in after the fish,( cole slaw and some corn on the cob plus a couple cold brews on the side)......It doesn't get much better..... Now I'm getting hungry again!
