I'm sure this will get political real quickly, but before it does... WTF would you buy a five year old a gun? WTF was it loaded? WTF is there a company targeting this age group? WTF is the obsession with guns?

"It was God's will. It was her time to go, I guess," she told WLEX. "I just know she's in heaven right now and I know she's in good hands with the Lord."

quite possibly the dumbest statement ive ever heard in my life

I think it's right up there with "mission accomplished." Why would anyone leave their 5 year old alone with a gun? They should euthanize the mother.

I did not see in the article when they will charge her with involuntary manslaughter.

It is a little disturbing they market these for redneck parents.

"My first rifle" jr. said with a noticeable Southern twang, before shooting his sister.

1. I have no problem with kids learning how to handle a gun and gun safety at a young age, depending on the child's maturity. My 2 oldest first learned how to properly handle a firearm at around the age of 6 or 7. My youngest, who is now 6, will not for quite a long time as he has some maturity issues that means it doesn't make sense (he is slightly autistic).

2. That being said, there is no way in God's green Earth I would EVER leave my son alone even with an EMPTY/UNLOADED firearm let alone one that is loaded. This mother is a complete moron. If I am not near my kid, and we had firearms in the house (I do not keep any firearms in my house, they are all at my dad's), there is no way they wouldn't be locked up in a safe.

She needs to be charged with a crime.

"Thank you for supporting the next generation of recreational shooters. My 4 1/2 year old daughter thought the "pink one" was far superior to a black synthetic stock, who am i to argue? I never would have thought that a pink rifle would be sitting in the rack in the gun room. I look forward to when my daughter is a bit older and ready to begin her journey in the great sport of shooting."
"I bought this as a first rifle for my 9 year old daughter who's name is Dakota. She is thrilled and so am I as I never thought one of my daughters would take an interest in shooting which is one of my favorite hobbies. I will get to spend a lot more time with her now becuase of it. Thanks"
