What is your earliest memory?

My earliest memory happened when I was 3(almost 4). We lived in a farmhouse in Columbus, and I remember looking out the window and seeing someone with a mask on looking back at me. I don't remember what happened before or after that, but vividly remember that exact time.

When I was 3 my mom dressed me up to go somewhere and said "whatever you do, DON'T go outside and get dirty." So...being a little bastard I went into the back barnyard. I saw our geese out in the yard and I ventured out toward them. I ventured too far. They pinned me down on the ground and started pounding on my head with their beaks like jackhammers. My older sister ran outside and chased them away with a 2x4. That was the first, of many, bird attacks in my life.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but in the part after you saw the mask there's the possibility that you were raped. In all seriousness, that is scary. So you don't know if it was just somebody playing around that you knew, or you definitely think it was a stranger? They should make a movie about strangers who stand outside of a house wearing masks. That'd be chilling.

My earliest memory is losing my two front teeth in hot pursuit of a jar of peanuts in which I fell off the counter. I was really hungry and it could not wait. My "chair ladder" did not work.

I remember our old house we lived in back when I was 3, but I have an even earlier memory of being across the street from that house looking back at it on a bright sunny day.....I may have been 2 but that seems unlikely

I can't pinpoint my earliest memory, but there are a few that are around the same time.

When I was three or four, my mom took my brothers and me to get pictures taken. The photographer gave them each a watch to wear and also gave one of them a stuffed bear to hold. I didn't get anything and was pissed, so I didn't smile in any of the pictures. It has turned into a bit of a running joke, because I was not a smiley baby at all, and look angry in a majority of the pictures we have from when I was a baby/toddler.

I actually IG'd this a few months ago. The picture on the left is from the day I was talking about above. The other is just me being cunty, per usual.

We don't know who it was, but mom suspected it was a weird neighbor she knew of. We didn't really know anyone cause we only lived up there for like a year.

1977. Watching Star Wars in the theater at 3 years old.

It was a long 3 years until Empire Strikes Back. We had most of the toys in the interim.

Mine was around five when I was fishing with my dad. I caught a catfish that almost pulled me in the water. I was fishing for blue gill and it surprised my dad when I was getting drug towards the water. He took the pole and pulled the catfish in. I was pissed cause I didnt get to reel it in. It was a 10lb catfish and to me at that age it was huge.

That is a creepy first memory to have.

My first memory was when I was 3, going up to Lake Erie as a family on the weekends during the summer. I remember standing on the pier with my dad catching Sheephead.

I remember walking out in a field with my dad and we walked all the way to creek and it was a long, long walk. (we moved out of that house when I was 4) I drove by the house later and the creek is maybe 20 yards from the house.

It's amazing to me that people actually have a first memory. If you brought up anything that happened in the first 7-8 years of my life I might remember that it happened, but there's no way I'd be able to pin a date to any of it.

Crazy how that works. We used to go sledding back in the woods behind my house growing up, thought it was the size of Everest. We took my daughter back there this winter to sled, seemed so much bigger when I was a kid.

Lol.

It's weird that, out of all the millions of random moments of our lives, there are always a select few obscure ones that run through your head with regularity.

For example, when I was younger and still attended church with regularity -- probably six at the time -- I vividly recall these two kids throwing paper airplanes from the balcony into the pews below. They got caught -- whew, big deal -- but, since I was so little -- like Fat Hobbit above -- I remember it being this huge incident with major repercussions. It's a completely insignificant moment, but for whatever reason, I think about it randomly at least a few times a year.

I remember one of my older houses had what I thought was a big yard at the time. In my eyes it was about 40 acres big.

As for my earliest memory. I remember my parents waking me up around the time i was 2.5 years old, to show me this new microwave they bought lol.

Agreed. Everything seems bigger, etc when you're a kid.

Not measuring a "distance" but remember when you were little and it seemed like Christmas took 2 years to get here? Now that I'm older it seems like I snap my finger and the holidays are rolling around again.

My earliest memory is going down a slide at birthday party when I was about 3. The next memory I have is me at about 5 running while pushing one these:

then hopping on the back riding it until it slammed into my mom's passenger side door. Dented the shit out of it.

I remember going to downtown Youngstown with my Mom to pick my Grandma up from work. Snow White was being shown at a theater nearby and my Mom and Grandma were taking me to see it. I was maybe 3 or 4.

Not anything that I could say "I was x years old when this happened" and recognize it as the earliest part of my life that I remember. I got a basketball hoop for Christmas one year, but I could have been anywhere from 6-9 years old when that happened. Was never a big fan of birthdays. Stopped celebrating them before I hit double digits I think, and no distinct memories. It's not like I have no recollection of my early childhood, I just don't have anything chronologically arranged... its all blended together.
