In the "you can't make this stuff up" category, top law school might admit illegals

I really don't get this. In every other country, immigration is a process where a lot of time and effort (and sometimes $$$) is made to confirm legal status - for permanent or visitation status. Even in the U.S. there are thousands of students from foreign countries legally on a visa. In other countries Americans get a student visa to study overseas, in the UK, in Japan, in France, in Germany, or anywhere else.

Notwithstanding the fact that likely no illegal can afford Northwestern's tuition, or that they would ever be admitted to the bar in any jurisdiction given that their status itself is illegal.

So all of the effort made by people that did things legally means nothing now? Ridiculous.

It does seem beyond absurd and surreal that those who are willing to disobey our laws are now being encouraged to attend one of our country's top law schools.
"My position on this is that the law school should be fully open to all students, even those who may be undocumented, because of their immigration status is not relevant to their ability to learn and contribute to our community," Rodriguez wrote.
What?

Don't try to figure it out.

This country is nuts.

When I read the topic title, I thought "please let it not be Northwestern". Obviously, I have nothing to do with it, but as an alumnus of the university I'm embarrassed regardless. I have a letter to write today.

^^^

Don't be embarrassed. Kellogg and NU law are fantastic schools.

I just don't know what the Dean is getting out of this.

If that doesn't display the level of intellect at our institutions of higher learning, among other areas, I'm not sure what will!
