My one set of grandparents just moved into a home in Zanesville. Grandma is 88 and just had another stroke, Grandpa is 89 and has bad als and dementia since he was in his 70's.
The other set is on the rocks as well. They are both in care and in the late 80's as well.
My unlce is in care he is 62 with horrible dementia and als as well.
Going to be a rough couple years but I'm happy to have both sets of Grandparents alive and able to meet my kid.

Sad to hear that man...but enjoy the time while you have it.
I wish my grandparents were around still.

I still have my 85 year old grandma and she is hilarious. She drives a 1997 candy apple red Honda Prelude with 34,000 miles.

"Drives" seems like too extreme a word for a 16-year-old car with 34K miles.Ironman92;1424949 wrote:I still have my 85 year old grandma and she is hilarious. She drives a 1997 candy apple red Honda Prelude with 34,000 miles.

Never met my grandfather on either side. It's a real bummer.

Still have all of my grandparents except one of by grandmas. She had cancer, but didnt die from it. When she was getting radiation the doctor messed up her intestines.
Still also have 2 great grandmas and 2 great grandpas.

Same. Plus one grandmother died when I was 5, and the only one living is a total bitch and I have nothing to do with her. So, I've had no relationship with any grandparents.

My parents were "ha ha" young when I was born. I had 5 grandmas and 5 grandpas when I was born.....only 4 years from 6 of each. Up until my daughter was 8 years old we had 5 generations......using the same 92 year old grandma and my baby happy relatives in Nelsonville....they missed 6 generations by just 2 years. Lol

My grandma is a boss. She raises cattle. She will never die.
Seriously, though. She's me hero.

My grandpa is currently 93 (at age 30, he married a woman 12 years younger ... like a boss). Though my grandmother passed away about 15 years ago, he has still gone on and had a good time. He's got a girlfriend in her 70s. After two replaced knees, he still walks 5 miles a day. Drives well. Vacations frequently. Buys a new Cadillac every year. He's still completely independent.
I swear, he's not all human.

Would rep but the asshat of an Admin won't allow it.
I have only one Grandparent left. She's 94 and in decent health as any 94 years old woman would be. She still drives and her mind is still there. Her hearing is a different story.
Had one grandpa die when he was 49. Brain Tumor brought on by Black Lung. My Dad was only 4 or 5 when that happened. My other grandpa died at age 62. My other grandma died at age 95 back in 1995...on my daughter's birthday of all days.

I still have two grandmas and one grandpa. The other grandpa died of a stroke two years ago. He was my biggest role model and I still think about him all the time. My last great-grandparent died when I was six, and she was 106.

Take the good with the bad I spose as my mom was only alive 6 months after kid was born.
Those 90 and uppers were born and raised in a different generation. Grandma and Granpa took care of a 100 acre farm in Zanesville until they moved in the home. Now the fight begins to keep that farm in good hands ie mine and my brothers.

Enjoy your grandparents and parents as long as you can, and remember as they age they will need your help.
