Pretty funny read. All the usual suspects bitching about not being allowed to be creepy assholes.

Sleeper complaining that my "feelz" were hurt, when he has posted about me at least 50 times since being sent to the basement.

The brain trust saying that this site doesn't get new members because of moderating, but the reality is, new members stay out of the general forums because they dont want to deal with those assholes.

I'm close to saying fuck it and closing the site. It's hardly worth the effort anymore.

I know me trying to explain situations or anything doesn't advance anything so I typically stay away from the bitching in the basement. The few trouble people even barely listen to Justin anymore.

It's not everyone, it's not even mostly everyone. It's a few individuals who don't know how to have a discussion, disagreement, conversation (whatever you want to call it), without being assholes all the time.

I agree. I largely avoid responding to anything the few assholes post, I responded to sleeper today, but I almost never do.

I guess the question anymore would be if the basement forum is serving its intended purpose, or any purpose at all.

If it is, we need to find ways to place sleeper, CoA, like_that, S&L in it permanently and immediately.

If it isn't, does it need to go away and we simply remove (read:ban) asshole posters, ala a "normal" message board?

I can't say that I give a fuck about the "being like JJs" argument 3 1/2 years later. Having rules and getting rid of complete cancers is not being like JJ. Holding grudges and enforcing shit arbitrarily with no explanation is, and we don't do that.

Problem is you aren't gonna find many investors that want to run the site, so selling may not relieve you of dealing with the site.

Why don't you "hire" someone to run the site, give them a small piece of the pie and you don't have to deal with as much

Yeah, I get it. You think some mods are too harsh and/or nitpicky on things they mod. Shit, sometimes I even agree with things they're saying about specific incidents. But good god, I can't think of a single other mod here who I'd look at and say, "Man, the way you're doing your thing is just ruining things for me." But there are general users who are more and more giving me that feeling because they demand the site revolves around their whims. "Let us say what we want without repercussions at all times!!!" "Kick off mods who do anything about us!!!!" And then they all gang up to yell as loud as they can to try to make it seem like the internet community in general is all about their wishes.

I mean, if Sleeper, LT, CoA, etc. got their way, this place would end up being about 10 people regularly posting and a bunch of other guys like me occasionally getting on out of force of habit to see if there's anything worth posting about and then leaving after five minutes. Or "what happened with me and Yappi after I realized the only thread I cared about was the Pirates baseball one" all over again. This place would be: Cleveland sports threads; OSU sports threads and funny pics/gifs and anyone talking about anything else would be mocked off the site.

I mean, if people can't grasp the concept that just because you don't like/agree with a poster, that doesn't mean you have to go out of your way to constantly attack them whenever they post anything...what the hell can we do? Can't cure retard.
