Side note: this thread is fine, but I'd def like to do game by game threads like we normally do. This thread could run parallel to game threads as more "off the field" type moves like trades, baker's idiocies, minor league news, etc.

Luddy has surgery on shoulder today to repair damage. Placed on 15 day dl. Roster move will be made tomorrow to fill the empty spot.

Paul's great as a pinch-hitter and spot starter. Even bumping him to platoon will hurt, though. That's what happened in Pittsburgh two years ago. He did really good in a limited role, so the team increased his role to get him on the field as often as possible. Two dumb decisions last night by managers.
Bringing in Hoover who threw 50 pitches two days prior when you have more than capable arms to come in, and then pitching to Votto. You take your chances with Phillips every day of the week, and twice on sunday, over JV
