Just a reminder that the continued harassment of other members is against the rules. I'm not sure why there is a fascination with ganging up on people but please stop. It's ridiculous that some people can't post anything without a select few being complete dicks to them for no reason.

I'm thinking of posting a thread like this in SB. Any modifications or additions you can think of? This seems to have become pretty commonplace and I'd like to curb it.

Definitely needs to stop. Sleeper, CoA, like_that, and S&L are relentess once they start. Then of course"hey guys, I want to be cool and fit in" ETB eventually chimes in to complete the gang.

IE, MB being harrassed right now.

It needs to be posted, and the mods need to be able to enforce things without being overruled, unless it is a completely egregious infraction given. CoA, like_that, and S&L will be in the basement before we know it.

I'm glad you decided to do something like this. And I second what SE-Alum said.

I'm going to post it on Monday morning before I head downtown for Opening Day.

VBall needs to stop it on CCRunner. Although, the Dukies are out, so we probably wont see it much anymore.

Just so we are consistent, are we thread banning or infracting people for this??? If they keep it up, obviously infractions, but to start to we just thread ban??

Good question. I'd say thread ban to start and see if they get the hint. If you thread ban someone just report the post so there is a note of it in here. If they don't stop at that point, infract. If it's questionable just report the post before doing anything. I do want to enforce the rules, but I don't want to be iron fisted (sounds painful). Some things are pretty harmless (i.e. /gut'd) so I'd rather discuss them before punishing. And I will do a better job of checking this forum.

I think when we thread ban we should also pm the person letting them know the reason. Just so it's incredibly obvious the exact behavior we are trying to curb.

I think that's the main shortfall with thread bans, is the lack of information to both the user and the rest of the mods.

So the idea of also reporting it to make a note is a good idea.

On the same line, is there a way for a thread ban to be automatically be put in here? I only ask cause I have unbanned many users and then have to go back and reban them lol.

Or a way to know if someone's threadbanned without clicking on it. There have been a couple times where I've seen someone (or read here about someone) being in need of one and clicked the option...only to find out I just unbanned them because someone had already done it.

Thats probably better.

Justin, anyway for them to become italicized or something like that within the thread they are banned from?

It would also help others in that thread know, so maybe they wont keep quoting them and responding etc.

Is there a way for it to shoot a message topic to this board like it does for an infraction? It would be better than us reporting it, because it eliminates any error should we forget to

I'll see what I can do. I'll dig in to the code when I get a chance and see how easy it would be to do something.

I see the ones that the reminder is intended for are bitching like predicted. (sleeper, S&L, CoA, like_that...waiting on ETB to chime in so he can be cool too.)

If there isn't an easy way to do a code notification we could manually make it clear.

In the post the person was thread banned for, just unapprove that post, then edit it saying:

"Fly4Fun thread banned (insert name)."

So basically there could be a 3 step procedure for thread banning:

1) Report the post so we have an official record of the thread ban and a "history" for any more bad behavior subsequent.

2) PM the user so they know what the reason was (which rule they broke).

3) Unapprove the post in question and edit it with a tag at the end saying that you already thread banned them. This would serve as notice to any other mods who would have thread banned them and we don't unban then have to reban.

We just need to ignore them and not let their annoying asses inadvertently lead to special treatment of them because we don't want to hear them bitch

Indeed.
