Agree. I think we let them slide without even realizing it simply because they team up and get vocal, and we don't want to hear it.

That, and I think there is still somewhat of an assumption (right or wrong) that Justin will end up reversing anything that isn't beyond egregious, so we just save ourselves the hassle and let it go

I agree with both of these posts. And could add a few dozen other things to SE's post that Sleeper does, probably, since most of what he does is threadshit, it seems. I'm probably as big a culprit in the "dude is fucking annoying as hell about everything, but this is borderline and I don't want to hear with bitching, so it can slide" way of doing things as anyone, but should probably work to correct that.

It's kinda like the time a few weeks back when Like That got a week or so in the basement. He'd been getting to that over-the-top out of control trolling phase, but the post that put him there was a comment against a mod where that same mod infracted him (with it being F4F instead of LJ). Even though we had a perfect infraction post when he had jumped on a vacation spot thread started by Dynasty solely to rip him.

I mean, nothing wrong with infracting him and Sleeper for the posts they got infracted for, but I can see why people would bitch when 500 things seemingly get ignored while one lesser comment gets nailed solely because it was against one of us.

I suppose it would help a bit to know if the general assessment of Sleeper is reasonably the same across the board (I think it is among those of us who've posted on this thread), too, or if I'm just biased against him for being an over-the-top eDouche who's so desperate for attention that he turns anything into a trainwreck to engage in OSU>B1G>everyone else; racist stuff; etc. at any time. I mean, if it was solely up to me, it might turn into a A Song of Ice And Fire sort of situation where I'd be Gregor Clegane and he'd be Vargo Hoat, which might be considered a bit much for some.

Oh, to be clear. I don't fault LJ for doing what he did here. I was merely pointing out that Sleeper and a few others have really been pushing the envelope and have probably crossed it more often than not.

I know I still receive shit from SportAndLady, CoA, and Like_That on a regular basis. Hell, one of those three (I forget who) straight up called me an asshole in a post ,I reported it as I didn't want a repeat of what happened last time I infracted one of them for their behavior towards me. The only thing that came of it was Justin going into the thread and just saying don't call people names.

But I do agree with TS that I think overall we are hesitant to do anything when moderating as we are constantly second guessed not only in the moderator forum but also that "vocal minority" that bands together and acts like because they okay it, there is no problem with the behavior.

Most posters don't cause problems on this site, it's just a few that will take every inch you give them. The more lenient you are with them, the farther they will go.

I don't let anyone get away with anything in the poli forum. While it is full of idiots, at least you can have a real discussion in that forum. The OC brain trust doesn't let that happen in the other main forums.

He would have gotten the infraction just the same for all the other shit that they say /gut'd /mb etc etc

It's a delicate line to walk. Eventually, it does seem like some of the trolling dies if you don't acknowledge it, but some of the stuff is over the top to the point that you really can't.

With COA and like_that, who trolled me for awhile after I infracted somebody, I just ignored their jabs, and it eventually went away. However, sleeper doesn't seem to react the same way, as the "LJ = expert" stuff is still going on, and never really stopped.

Fuck it. Just leave him down there.
