If I am understanding the rule correctly, we would just have to get the kids from our combine addresses within the Massillon school district to avoid having them count as multipliers.Crimson streak;1411871 wrote:So Massillon would be super d-1 then

I like the idea....Rally I do....Tactic like this have worked for parochials for years, why not try it now? It worked for the Williams kid at Ignatius....Living in an apartment, "near the HS", during football season.

If that is true, it illustrates the difference between a program like Iggy and our Massillon Tigers. We would never have a kid live in an apartment. That proposal is very similar to what I've been saying on here all along. The only thing the article doesn't address, what defines a private school's boundary? Is it defined by the public district that the school sits in? Is it defined by the areas of the feeder schools?

True, but then again, the paroch's have so many, they couldn't realistically buy homes for them all.

Great idea! Talk about a fix, however how do you define districts? Youngstown Cardinal Mooney still is Youngstown, thus won't be punished for kids from the city? The problem isn't private schools in D1, it's the smaller ones where they absolutely dominate. I mean seeing my high school in 2008 go to the D4 Final Four and play Kettering Alter, who had 120 kids on their football team is unreal. They're supposed to be in D4? Heck Chris Borland the following season was B1G Frosh of the Year

So teams will not know what division that they are in until two to three weeks into the season since the schools will need to submit rosters of the players and no need to do that until cuts (esp basketball & base/softball) are made.

I would imagine that they would do it in the spring for football, like they do now. That's why I've always maintained that in the smaller divisions this isn't a private/public debate, it's more of a urban/rural debate. But punishing a team just because they come from an area of the state that is populated doesn't make sense...especially since the schools from those more populated areas also have to compete with around 20 other schools for students while the kids in the rural areas go to the only school in the area.Classyposter58;1412200 wrote:Great idea! Are there schools that cut kids? I'm being serious. I've never known of a high school to cut kids from their football team. What I like about this proposal is that we will finally see, in print, the kinds of numbers the parochials are dealing with. Unless of course they expand their practices of renting apartments near their High Schools.

I like Indiana's rule. I don't know it exactly, but it's something along the line of, "You make it to state tourney (final 4) 2 straight years, you move up a division for 2 straight years." Or something like that.

Hey, what else can ya do? Our coach doesn't own a home that he can rent for 5 months every year, or have 7 counties he can pick and choose from.

As I said before, we'll see now where these kids come from.
Here is a list of the kids that came in for a tryout at our combine. Our coach has many counties to choose from this year.
