Kind of like the "political meme" thread, just post numbers you see that are beyond credulous (but credible, not just some gross error or misprint).

Here's a few to get things started that kind of floored me:

1) DoD employs 800k civilians. That's more than the ENTIRE auto-industry!!!

2) The USDA employs 1 person for every 8 farmers!!!

There are 11 states where the takers (welfare recipients and govt workers) outnumber or equal the makers (private sector workers). Ohio is #11 with a 1:1 ratio.

Do they include teachers, police, firemen, etc in with govt workers? If so that's not quite fair

Why isn't that fair? Those are government workers funded by tax dollars. Public education is a very large entitlement.

This.

I'm not necessarily saying that those jobs should be cut but there is absolutely a problem when you're looking at a 1:1 ratio or worse regardless of who is included. There are A LOT of other public sector jobs that can be cut to reduce the burden on tax payers before getting to firefighters and teachers.

So in your eyes teachers and police are takers that aren't providing essential services for life?

True, I would like to see what the numbers are of how many people on welfare versus state employees versus private. I'm not quite comfortable lumping teachers and police in with the drug dealing welfare thieves as "takers"

?????

I didn't say that at all. There are many government employees that provide beneficial services.

Public school teachers are government employees providing a large entitlement to the community.

Astounding numbers, huh? 15 out of 234 House Republicans voted yesterday to defund Obamacare. And you thought electing Romney would get rid of it.

Depressing.

A few states are working to nullify the exchanges. Unfortunately Kasich is a fan of Obamacare.

Was it in a bill by itself, or were there a bunch of dumbass riders/pork on the bill that caused them to vote that way (or was a rider on some other retarded bill)?

The top 1% of earners pay 35% of all federal income taxes. The top 10% of earners pay 73% of all federal income taxes. The top 53% of earners pay 100% of all federal income taxes.

The bottom 47% pay no federal income tax, complain about the top 53% not paying their "fair share", and cast votes for the Democrats.

It was in a continuing resolution surely filled with $1 trillion of pork and nonsense, and it was actually 16 (after reading it again) that voted to pull funding for Obamacare out of the CR.

A 2005 documentary on the word "fuck" used the word a total of 857 times in the 93 minutes that the movie ran. That comes out to an average of 9.2 uses per minute for over an hour and a half.

In 2003, the Department of the Treasury's financial report had a section titled "Unreconciled Transactions Affecting the Change in Net Position" which added up to approximately $24,500,000,000 in 2003 dollars.

Between 1997 and 2003, the DOD purchased, and then didn't use, roughly 270,000 commercial airline tickets ... the combined purchase value of which was approximately $100,000,000. $100 million in UNUSED tickets.

A recent audit showed that employees of the USDA diverted millions of dollars to personal purchases through their government-issued credit cards. A sampling of 300 employees' purchases over six months led investigators to estimate that 15 percent abused their government credit cards at a cost of $5.8 million. Taxpayer-funded purchases included Ozzy Osbourne concert tickets, tattoos, lingerie, bartender school tuition, car payments, and cash advances.

Over the course of 18 months, the DOD found that Air Force and Navy personnel had used their government-issued credit cards to charge at least $102,400 for admission to entertainment events, $48,250 for gambling, $69,300 for cruises, and $73,950 for strippers and/or hookers.

Alameda County administrator will retire with $301k annual pension!!!

But, wait, there's more! We're also going to throw in bonuses totaling $53k per year.

Wait!!! Still more!!! She's going to get another $54k "longevity bonus" for being with the country for 30+ years.

Do you think that's all? NO!!!!! - there's more! $8300/yr car allowance!!!

But, but I always thought public employees aren't compensated as well as their private sector counterparts? Who knew?

The number of hits I expect to see on this worthless thread. Must have been a slow, boring day for this kind of drivel to be started, and obviously on the wrong forum.

100%

The percentage of stlouiedipalma posts that repeat the same thing over and over again - "we repeat the same arguments over and over again and I don't understand why you do it."

0%

The percentage of stlouidipalma posts that actually address the topic at hand, and refute these same, tired arguments.

Is this part of Alinsky's scheme? When confronted with argument you don't like and can't refute - just say who cares?
