Almost that time again. The greatest rivalry in college basketball.

Duke has Ryan Kelly back, Carolina is winning with "small ball". Both teams might be playing the best they've played all season.

Senior night for Dexter Strickland. Should be an amazing atmosphere in the Dean Dome on Saturday night.

Who ya got?

I don't know about the game yet, but I am going to be pretty sad to see Dexter say good bye.

Same here. Hated that injury last year.

Dex has had his ups and downs, but he has never stopped working. Seems like a great kid and a great teammate. He's just now getting back to 100% and it shows. He has the best assist/turnover ratio in the ACC and he has picked up his scoring recently as well. A great four years for Dex in Chapel Hill.

Already mentioned this a couple times, but Andrew Wiggins and Rashad Vaughn will be in the house on Saturday. Seeing this game, no matter the outcome, could potentially be big for Carolina basketball. A win and the celebration that would ensue on Franklin Street may be just what the Heels need to reel in these two guys.

I know we've covered this repeatedly here throughout the years, but I wish the final Duke-Carolina game of the season was still played on Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. Hate the Saturday night matchup. Partly because it seems like Duke never plays that well in it, and partly because the game feels like a Final Four game when on CBS with Jim Nantz calling the game. I always liked it when Brent Musberger did the game on ABC as well.

I could not agree more. It, IMO, represented the END of the regular season too. Basically just bringing it all to a close.

Yep. While Duke-Carolina still is typically the biggest game in college basketball most years, the Saturday night time slot takes just a little bit of the luster out of it in my view. It seems like just any other game. Whereas, as you indicated, when the final Duke-Carolina game was played on Sunday at 4, it almost seemed like it was on a stage all unto itself.

I have a love-hate relationship with ESPN. While I love that I get to watch 28 Duke games on ESPN a year, I also hate what the network has done to some of my favorite traditions (e.g. destroying coverage of the NBA).

Was the last Sunday game in 2009? I seem to remember the Ty Lawson "Toe Game" being on a Sunday.

I believe so. That game was in the traditional 4 p.m. CBS slot. The final Duke-Carolina games in 2010, 2011 and 2012 were broadcast by ESPN on a Saturday night.

UNC 73
Duke 66

Duke is unimpressive on the road (Kelly will help though)...UNC is working their way up the seeding quite well. A win vs Duke and I'd have them a #6.....and continuing on to win the ACCT and I'd give them a #4.....but if Duke does win I think UNC needs to make at least the ACCT semis to avoid the #8/#9 matchup....even then I'd have them over the potential #1's except for Indiana and Kansas

I take that back. The final 2011 Duke-Carolina game was played on a Sunday on CBS. That one definitely escaped my mind. It would seem the CBS contract concluded with that game since it would be due to televise this year's finale.

While my take back is allowed, a hope cannot be unhoped. :)

You're wrong, so the "hope" has now been voided. Carolina and Duke played on Sunday during the ACCT. The regular season finale that year was on Saturday. BOOM!! lol

I hate doing this...

But he said the "final 2011 Duke-Carolina game" was played on Sunday. So actually he's right. Or maybe just not wrong lol.

I was half right, which, according to Addonis, is pretty good.

The final Duke-Carolina game of 2011 was played on a Sunday, but not on CBS. It was televised by ESPN.

I completely forgot that CBS aired an 8 p.m. Duke-Carolina game that year. It was the first primetime game ever broadcast on network television in the Duke-Carolina series. There was a really big deal made out of it, so not sure how I fogot that.

That was the first time that all of us here got really mad at CBS for discontinuing the traditional Sunday late afternoon game. So, apparently, it was CBS that was trying to mimic ESPN in that instance. Does anybody have any information on the CBS contract for Duke-Carolina?

I can't wait until Duke gets blown out and Duke still pretends it deserves a 1 seed.

Half right? You're a dookie. You're always wrong. :D

I was just referring to the regular season finale being played on Saturday, rather than Sunday, while you were focusing on whether or not it was covered by CBS. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Wait, I'm still confused. The regular season finale in 2011 was played on Saturday, March 5th, right? Then the two teams played the following week on Sunday, March 13th in the ACCT. The Saturday game was at 8:00PM and covered by CBS. The Sunday game was on ESPN because they cover the ACCT.

My brain hurts now. I'm done. lol

Yes, so technically the final game of 2011 was on a Sunday.

Yes, but I qualified that statement by saying the last Duke-Carolina game was on CBS. Therefore, I was only half right.

Carolina could possibly be without James Michael tomorrow. Suffering from a bulging disc in his back. Something that he supposedly has been playing with for awhile now.

If he can't go, Dook wins going away.

I hope Duke wins by 1 on a 70 foot bank shot.

I see Mac playing in this game. I feel like the Heels are really rolling right now and even though Duke has RKelly back I think PJ will be a tough matchup for him and create a problem for Duke.

Everything I've seen says he will play. After all he's been supposedly playing with it for awhile.

Lol.

He was never not going to play in the game tomorrow. He'd play if he had to duct tape his head to his shoulders. Let's be real. And that's true for any player on both sides. I knew deep down that Kelly would be back for Miami -- it was way too big a game, and if he was anywhere near ready, he was playing -- but even if he hadn't been ready for that one, it's not even within the realm of possibility that he would have sat out the game tomorrow tonight against UNC in Chapel Hill.
