"Tiger moms", then "Helicopter Parents"...now the latest terminology they have come up with is "Snowplow Parents"

I get this a lot where I work. Parents try to speak for their kids. We require students to be an advocate for themselves prior to dealing with their parents.

Mine definitely were, wasn't until I got into high school I could really keep them back. Haha didn't exactly go over the smoothest either
