Anyone familiar with this app? I just read an article that mentioned it. Sounds like you can control your home audio-entertainment system right from your iPhone. My question is... it sounds like you have to have Sonos (?) equipment/speakers/etc. Is this true? If so... how's Sonos' quality? I've never heard of it before (like I've heard of Sony, Panasonic, Samsung, etc.)
Anyone familiar?

I have two SONOS speakers. They are fucking outstanding, and the iPad and iPhone app is BOSS.

Also, what I like about it is that you can have different speakers playing different music in different rooms... which is nice for parties and what not.
It's totally wireless - so if you want to hook something up you're not going to be in luck. But if you're like me and have Spotify, you have an unlimited wireless digital music library at the tips of your fingers streamed throughout your house. It's awesome. And the speakers are nice. Totally worth it.

Where does the music physically reside? On your iOS device? So, does it transmit wirelessl-y from your iOS device to the speakers? Is that how it works? Or do you have to access the music, say, from a Pandora, Spotify, or SiriusXM linked account?

The music can be on your device (iTunes) or using a service (pandora or spotify). The app hooks into it all and streams it to the speakers through a bridge that comes with the speaker.

Sonos are awesome! We have 4 "Play 5" and 4 "Play 3" with 2 of the Subs. I would recommend doing a Sonos system over doing a whole home system. You can control your music by your IOS or Android systems along with any kind of laptop. You can also buy an adaptor piece if you have receiver.

Two Play 3s. I live in a Condo and have neighbors on each side. If I had a stand-alone place I might consider the Play 5, but honestly the Play 3s can do some work... I'm a little scared of the Play 5.Tiger2003;1393351 wrote:Which ones do you have?

For the "uneducated," what are "Play #"? Sounds like different types of speakers. Can someone help me out? I'm liking what I'm hearing.derek bomar;1393486 wrote:Two Play 3s...

Play 3 is the basic speaker, play 5 is bigger. You don't need play 5 unless you're running a Bar or have a ton of open space to fill (IMHO). The play 3 is plenty loud.

A play 3 has 3 speakers in the unit and the play 5 has speakers in the unit.

BGR's review of the Sonos PLAYBAR >> http://bgr.com/2013/03/04/sonos-playbar-review-soundbar-358274/
I absolutely LOVE the idea of what Sonos is doing with it's equipment, and it sounds like it's not just a great idea, but really good quality as well. I'd run out and buy a setup tonight, but my own dilemma is... I already have a surround sound system for my home theater. Now, I can't easily (and wirelessly) play my music, but it's already hooked up to my home theater system and speakers are already setup. I wish I didn't have to deal with the wires, but I'm not sure I can justify ditching a 2-3 yr old system that works virtually flawlessly for what I need (aside from the speaker wires and not being able to seamlessly stream wifi music).
Wish this technology would have been out 2-3 years ago :-/
