How do you all deal with them? Do you ever give them money? I never give them money, because I don't trust what they do with that money, however I have given over leftover food I didn't eat at work, or I have bought a homeless person a meal once. Also, whenever I buy new running shoes, I normally take my old shoes and take them to a spot that normally homeless people hang out by.

I offer to buy a meal all the time. I have only been taken up on it twice.

For the most part I blow them off.
Buskers in the subway are different. If they are rocking out and entertaining me, I always give them something.

Normally what I do as well, as you can't help every person in the world, but there are certain times where walking past them isnt an option. I.E. you are on the metro and a homeless person goes down the isle asking for money smh.SportsAndLady;1392226 wrote:Usually walk past..I like the food/shoes idea ill start doing that.

Do you get the "deaf" people who give you a card w/ the ASL alphabet on it in return for money?
Well I ALWAYS would give to those people. I have a soft spot for the deaf and ASL in general I took 4 qtrs of in in college....awesome experience.
Anyway, the last time I gave the guy a dollar after reading his card and started signing a bit. The fucker couldn't even sign, AT ALL. I don't even think he was deaf. Conniving bastard.

I offer them something to eat. If they say no I give them nothing. I'm not going to give my hard earned money to feed someone addiction. If you are really hungry you will let me buy you food

That could be the most annoying fucking thing in the world.
There's this famous blind guy in Chicago who does that and I don't buy it. Hes walking perfectly through the aisles, around people, just because he has a walking stick doesn't mean hes blind.
He repeats the same line over and over again. "Good morning folks. My name is Alfred Jefferson and I am blind and homeless. if u could spare some extra change the good lord will be forever on your side."
Or some shit like that.

I live in a rural community, so no homeless. When in HS, we went to state boys bball tourney every year, and I'd always buy the guy outside of mcdonald's a burger.

Just a few days ago, 50 cents fell out of my pocket, and this homeless guy was like "ay let me get dat 50 cent." I told him no, and he was like "why the hell not," and I was just like "because what the fuck are you going to do with 50 cents in a city?"

I especially get a kick out of the ones asking for change, yet they are firing a cigarette.
No only are smoking a cigarette in a city where tobacco prices are outrageous ($12/pack), but they are smoking the most expensive ones....fucking Newports.

I've only done it once. This black guy comes up to me and phrased the question as "Do you feel you are the kind of person who would help someone out regardless of their differences in culture, particularly skin color?" He didn't even have to ask for money, I just gave him $5 and laughed.
