Univ. of Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon released today that their athletic department ran "catfish" program on student athletes to "teach them the dangers of social networking". Haha!

I think a lot of programs around the country are going to do this to avoid the embarrassment that Notre Dame will always be known for.

Reminds me of the "To Catch a Predator" series with Chris Hanson.

Not sure what is haha about it? Doesn't sound like a bad thing.

I don't think it is haha at all. It reminds me of To Catch a Predator - not in any funny way.

It just sounds hilarious that an athletic program would catfish their own athletes. Nothing wrong with it as it was probably a good practice, just funny to think about.

Yeah, it's a weird way to go about it. Makes you wonder if there will be growing attempts at catfishing athletes or other famous individuals with the Te'o story out.Terry_Tate;1379585 wrote:It just sounds hilarious that an athletic program would catfish their own athletes. I loved the arrested development references in the comment section.

The ha-ha part is that they were posing as "Ohio State Girls"...who could blame the skunkbears from thinking they might be getting a chance to step up from their typical diet of scUM coeds?

The university and athletic department have been denying this story like crazy since it broke. Unfortunately for them multiple people in the media who were at the event where Brandon talked about doing this have reported it.
