Seems to be the consensus lol Chael plays the heel extremely well. Must be a big Pro Wrestling fan. From what I have heard the fights are great.

I tend to pull for all the wrestling guys, so I am in the minority in liking Chael. Also like the fact he still supports wrestling. He is on flowrestling.com all the time. Before his fight with Silva he pledged to give free tickets to anyone who donated $1000 to any of the olympic wrestlers.

I actually enjoy Chael. You've gotta just take him for what he is, he likes to make the fights interesting by talking a lot of junk.

That's pretty cool. Chael is actually a really good dude from all accounts, he just gets that he is in the entertainment business as much as the fight business, more eyes means more dollars.

I know it's a lot of "coulda, woulda, shoulda" but he was within seconds of beating Silva. I know he still lost, but he's no bum. I think they gave him the title shot since Jones dodged him earlier and wanted more time to prep and Chael called him out on it, so now they both got what they wanted.

Yeah, but he JUST lost to Silva again. Itd be different if he was coming off a win, but he is coming off another loss

I feel like Chael could be the guy to push Jones over as a ppv star. Jones has been consistently between 500 and 800 K ppv buys. This fight should do north of a million and may help Jon become more of a household name like he deserves to be. In that respect this fight is positive.

Dan Henderson deserved the shot based on merit. Injury curtailed that, Dana knows a fight between Jones and Chael is big business, it's also good TV for TUF which needed a revival.

Dan is the only guy and they weren't going to have Jones on the shelf for that long. There is no one outside of Hendo who deserves one, so that's why this happened.

Machida , Henderson and Gustafsson.


At least theyre at the top of the division and coming off wins, not losses. You shouldnt get a title shot coming off of a loss no matter what IMO

Machida had his shot, and he was brutally choked out. Gustafasson has 1 win against a top tier fighter. Only guy in that division who hasn't lost to Jones and has beaten top guys is Hendo and the timing didn't work out.

Fighting is still entertainment based and it always will be, which is why fights like this will happen.

So a fighter who just lost two straight title shots in a lower division should move up to LHW for a title shot simply because he has not lost to the division champion and is good at talking himself up?

Hendo couldn't take the fight in September, but he for damn sure could have taken the fight in April. He's fighting next month.

Money over everything. Instead of Jones on the shelf until april they have him on tv gaining exposure against a guy who moves the needle. Love/Hate the match up people are talking about it and want to see it. They either want to see Chael get curb stomped or see the smaller guy pull the upset.

We keep of thinking of it based on Dana giving Chael the fight. Maybe Jones actually asked for this fight? Could be possible since he was tired of Chael running his mouth about dodging him and bashing Nike for keeping him after getting his DUI.
