In a case right out of Manipulating the Media 101 Notre Dame has successfully once again managed to hoodwink most of America into believing Manti Teo was completely innocent of wrong doing and even spun the truth so far upside down some people are feeling sorry for the bastard. Its fucking mind boggling.
But we really shouldn't be surprised, the Catholic Church has been so extremely successful at convincing everyone Jesus didn't have a real girlfriend for 2000 yrs. (when we all know he was probably tapping anything with a veil) it must have been a fucking piece of cake convincing folks Teo thought he had a real one when he most definitely didn't.

Wasnt there also a rap scandal that was swept under the rug at ND this year and the girl ended up committing suicide?

If by rap you mean rape, yes. I don't really know how much of a cover-up/legit thing it was, though. Sleeper and I already pretty much raked them over on this back in 2011 when it happened, then Kelly killed Declan Sullivan and then another young woman claimed sexual assault against ND players, in all 3 of these incidents there was lip service investigation but no charges filed. Its pretty well known in South Bend don't go to the police about ND football players. Hell Rudy raped a number of school age boys in the 70s and not a damn thing was done about it.

Lots of posters "up top" speculating on whether Teo used this story to garner votes on multiple awards at the end of the season. How does anyone with even below average intelligence think he wasn't in on the hoax from the get go? Not one single normal person in this country would say "...it never crossed my mind" to go visit a dying girlfriend and exactly when did she supposedly tell him not to come to funeral but play his game? ...he admits he didn't even know she was close to dying on the same day she supposedly did.
