I am one of few who was ranked twice in the same year. D1 #27 @ 189 in 2010, and D3#13 at 189 also in 2010.

A lowly #15 in 1991 DIII. Still, I was downright giddy and secretly kept the page in my warm-up bag for motivation.

1988, DII, 119, #15
1989, DII, 119 #14
1990, DII, 130, #6
Being mentioned in the Brakeman Report was objective confirmation that you had arrived. It was validation that someone who really knew his stuff thought that you could make it to The Show. I never thought about being a State Qualifier until January of '88 when Mr. Brakeman thought I could. I never thought about placing until he thought it was possible. I'm sure it's hard for wrestlers today to understand the power his report carried in the 80s and early 90s.

Found this interesting, seems like a hug difference between the divisions.

what a coincidence, he misspelled my last name also ... he spelled it J-O-R-D-A-N. I knew what he meant and that was enough.

Boro, he also ranked a teammate of mine Neimeister #21 at D3 160, but did not rank him d1. And to be fair to division three, i think he split most of my wins up between my two characters. I had pinned #19 in d1 twice, but I think he thought the "other" russell had beaten him.boro fan;1370834 wrote:Found this interesting, seems like a hug difference between the divisions.

2010 Ranked me 22nd @ 130, which I was personally just excited to be on the list, but he saw 2 dayton kids getting out at my weight class and 2 central ohio kids. It was personally fun to prove him and others wrong that year. I love reading his stuff and loved being noticed by such an important face of Ohio Wrestling.

I honestly believe he put a pretty heavy emphasis on the Franklin Heights tournament. Our team attended. I got 2nd. I'm not sure who else was in the weight class or who I beat along the way but I can tell you who I didn't beat! Brakeman's #3 at that weight... Clint Douglas (MP). He pinned me in I'm pretty sure the second period. Most likely after racking 10 or 12 takedowns. It was NOT close. At all.
But, because I got 2nd, I was mentioned.
I actually think that happend my junior year. I got 3rd my senior year. I'll have to go back and look. But I do know I got throttled by Clint. Ugh.
