Baffles me how a program like Licking Heights can give up 5 weight classes to forfeits!

I agree, Licking Hts and Columbus Desales were once two of the top programs

I thought the LH wrestling program for the middle school and even lower grades had high participation so I assumed all weight classes would be filled but the participation seems to have slowed once they get to high school.

Yes- looking at the Licking County Tournament and the Licking Hts Invitational results Heights appears to have some open weight classes.

I heard their Jr High has some tough kids though perhaps in another couple of years they will build back up.

LH has had levy problems and I think the cost is high.

Licking Heights will be back. They have so many Freshmen in their line up in two years if they stick with it they will be in great shape. Most of their open classes are due to legit injury. DeSales is on the up swing as well. The progress that program has made in just one year is nothing to laugh at. In time, they will be back on top as well I believe.

LH had 3 kids out due to injury, the starter at 220 was also out...1 kid not able to drop a weight due to the rules yet, 1 out for the year with shoulder surgery, 2 who quit after being injured...and through all of this started 4 freshmen, 1 kid who hasn't wrestled in several years and 1 who is a first year junior.

Against Reynoldsburg we went 6-2 in our matches...5-3 against New Albany, 4-4 against South, and DeSales is the first team to beat us on the mat (they were just an awful match up for us).

Graduation has killed us the last few years...7 straight years with kids in the state tournament including 9 qualifications in the last 5 years. We have 2 seniors this year...both 285s. We have about 8 or 9 freshmen coming in next year, including 4 kids who have combined for less than 10 losses this season.

The future is bright.

Freshman Jacob Maynard pinned both at #120 . DeSales has a very young group and a new coach so Looking forward to the future.
