I'm basing it off of common sense and the notion that he/they could afford it, if indeed the love of his life and possible future wife was on her fucking deathbed.

Wake the fuck up.

There are a lot of very very poor people here. A lot of hawaiian families live in a house with multiple family members. So it'd be like living in a 3 or 4 bedroom house with your parents, your family, and your siblings family. Not everyone does it. But its true for a lot of families here. Which is why on the weekends they go camp out at beaches, just to get out of such a crowded house.
The teo's though are not poor.

You said they aren't well off... They are far from that.

Exactly. The guy knew and he used the story to gain emotional appeal. The guy is a fraud.

ding ding ding ding. we have a winner!!! What I've been looking for. He is guilty for continuing to use his story for attention (with no advising from ND) even after he *supposedly* found out it was fake. Reps.

I think you cracked the case, PITman.

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/ncaaf--sources--manti-te-o-s-representatives-passed-on-chance-to-release-story-about-fictional-girlfriend-175521027.html
The person kept calling and saying it was Lennay herself, and over the course of 10 days Te'o engaged the woman in several conversations.
"He was asking questions only Lennay would know," said the source, adding that phone records show multiple calls between Te'o and that number.

By the time first-semester classes were over at Notre Dame, Te'o was convinced Lennay Kekua was a hoax, the source said. He went home to Hawaii for Christmas and told his mother about it on Christmas Eve.

I think the most amusing part of this thread is Lotz. Holy hell, I've never seen someone get so bent out of shape over a football player before.

Fairwood about Steuby High School is the closest comparison I have.

Exactly. Those who believe he wasn't involved have spent hundreds or thousands of hours perpetuating this hoax. Without a hint of motive, that's pretty hard to believe.

Not bent out of shape at all. I've said how I'd feel about Te'o if he was in on it. It is what it is at this point until Te'o gives his side of the story.

I'd think people like End of Line, Pick, vball, az, midstate, etc etc are more bent out of shape over Te'o than I am. And by bent out of shape, I mean oddly aroused.

Te'o is a victim didn't you hear? He already gave his side of the story and its inconsistent with logic and reason. Only blind ND homers actually believe this guy isn't a phony. Nice hero you have though!

Cell phone records are verifiable, correct? Can someone please get Te'o's phone records and see if he had 8-hour phone calls overnight?

And if he did, in fact, have those calls, I would have to believe that either 1) He was led on for a short time, then found out, and then continued building the lie, or 2) The story is, in fact, as he and ND are stating (but still guilty of lying and going for the drama/emotional effect).

Or 3) He's a little smarter than we thought, and anticipated us checking his phone records, and "planted" those phone calls to corroborate his story.

0% chance Te'o releases these. The guy is in full blown deny and resist mode and so are his ND homers. His draft stock is plummeting and he's having trouble holding onto his silly lie. I would put him on suicide watch at this point; hope he's okay.
