But hey...it would only cost $852,000,000,000,000,000

Pretty funny read. Especially the response from the White House.

This new White House petition site is turning into quite the comedy site.

Just as well...if Obama got a hold of that he'd use it to blow up Uranus then blame it on Bush

To be fair that would create a shit load of jobs. Seems like just about every human on earth would have to help.

Yeah you can't really argue that large projects (like a Death Star) would create jobs. The argument is whether or not those jobs would be a benefit to the economy or not.

Anyway I think this petition was pretty funny.

So what do you think, 100 years? 200 years? before we advance to the point to start on such a project. Maybe more like a super-sized space station. Basically a lifeboat if disaster or plague ravages the planet. Problem right now would be making something fully self-sustaining (mainly food and fuel).

My friend Tweeted something about this, that she received the actual email from the White House. I asked her to send a copy of it on over to me. It was actually quite hilarious, indeed.

That's where the whole "travel the multiverse and conquer other worlds with our Death Star as we become Gods of the Universe" thing comes in.

In Stargate Universe the ship would go directly thru a star and recharge its cells or maybe even scoop up material to re-fuel. :p

But I'd expect hyrdoponics to come a long, long way in the next 100 years. So you'd be able to grow all the plants you need, but raising livestock would always be at risk of being wiped out by disease. Although you could probably get around that with multiple herds isolated from each other.

My number one fear would be our awesome Death Star conquering ship going all Event Horizon on us when we tried to go Stargate. That would be bad.

Petition threshold was raised from 25,000 signatures to 100,000. Seems Obama really doesn't give a hoot about the people.
Because people had obviously been using this tool for it's intended purposes... and then people complain about the inefficiencies of government and the budget.
