I just saw the link to this video on SI.com and it is crazy.

A half time half court shot by a fan landed dead on the back of the rim. There doesn't appear to be any trickery, but I have never seen anything like that and the odds have to be astronomical of this happening.

Yeah. Should've banked in or bricked.

Pretty funny it happened at an NBA game, but I saw it happen twice at varsity basketball practice. We used to joke that you stick on defense, not the ball! Given enough shots, you'll stick the ball.

The emcee did a very good job at playing it cool. He acted like it wasn't a big deal.

If you freeze it at 1:11 it looks like the ball is deformed and sticks to the glass--like it was seriously deflated.

I've shot a lot of basketball and been around others and haven't seen that before.

Then how did he bounce it as well as he did?

Had one rest perfectly like this on a FT late in the game at a high school game tonight. Hit the flat part of the rim and bounced straight up and down 5/6 times and then just rested.

It was on a second FT and thus a jumpball. Team hit a 3 and won the game by 2. I would be pissed as a coach.

That's understandable with a FT, especially with some arc and the bounces off the rim. It's crazy that with the angle and velocity from half court that this sticks there without a bounce.

It all depends on the ball's rotation, if you put a lot of "English" on it the chances of sticking become much higher.

Free lifetime tickets to the Atlanta Hawks. He politely turned it down.
