Nice list and thank you...

Suprised to see Liberty so far down the list and Mt. Vernon ahead of a tough Davidson team though. May I ask what the criteria was for selection?

Individuals coming soon?

Liberty is down this year, both as a dual meet team (several forfeits) and as a tournament team (7 SQs in 2011, 4 SQs in 2012, likely 2 SQs in 2013).

Individuals are coming soon. Look for them the first Thursday of the new year.

I'll give you the process rather than criteria...

I listed about 15 or 16 team (forgot Marysville in my first email! HA!!!) that had already proven themselves in competition - such as Davidson winning DeSales, Thomas Worthington winning Franklin Heights, Mount Vernon winning the Wazie, along with any duals that had occurred. Then I asked the coaches to give me their top-10.

Over the course of two or three days, I received almost a dozen back. I took those top tens and and listed the teams with rank and team name.

Example...

1) Marysville
1) Marysville
1) Marysville
1) Marysville
1) Marysville
1) Marysville
1) Marysville
1) Marysville
1) Marysville
1) Marysville
1) Marysville

There average would be 1.

As other teams came in, I did the same for them. Anytime the team did not get a top-10 vote, I added 11 to their total.

Example: Mount Vernon
2 Mount Vernon
2 Mount Vernon
2 Mount Vernon
2 Mount Vernon
2 Mount Vernon
2 Mount Vernon
2 Mount Vernon
2 Mount Vernon
3 Mount Vernon
3 Mount Vernon
10 Mount Vernon

They were listed by the coaches with these rankings. Notice they are only in there 10 times. So, I added 11 to their total (30+11=41/11= 3.73).

After all the points were added, and averages taken, I did a sort using Excel. The end result... my first post.

Whew! I just posted a lot!!!

tl;dr ;)

Any major changes???

Darby and W. North wrestled, as did Orange and Mount Vernon. Both results justified the rankings.

One thing about rankings - and this more about college football than our local high school wrestling poll.

If we all (or most of us) agree that, let's say, Bagodonuts U. is the 3rd best team in the NCAA, and they play Anytown U. who is ranked #1 in a mid-season game, why should Bagodonuts drop in ranking if they lose? Didn't they just prove the rankings correct? Why should they drop a spot (or what seems to be 4) automatically? I just don't get it.

And another thing!!! Kirk Herbstreit is the only commentator I have ever heard say what I have long thought... How can you rank a team that hasn't played a game, or has only played two or three!? In his segment, he mentioned wanting to see a "body of work" in order to better gauge the team. That's what I'm talking about!!! A certain team shouldn't be ranked number 5 because they beat Troy, App State, Middle Tennessee and Delaware and are 4-0. Come on, man!

Again, that really has so much more to do with my agreeing with Kirk Herbstreit and college football rankings (and slight levels of procrastination of doing laundry of last night's uniforms) than anything else, but I thought I'd get it off my chest.
