I bought a used PS3 and have a question.
The previous owner reset everything to factory settings. I hooked it all up and started going through the set-up. The first screen, when selecting language the controller started going nuts and it was just running up and down through the languages uncontrollably. I looked it up online and reset the controller with a paper clip on the small hole on the back.
During the set-up now, it will only let me use the analog sticks and I can't get past the screen that says "HDMI connection...blah...blah...blah." It gives me an option of yes or no....but no matter which one I click on....it doesn't do anything.
Is the controller screwed up? Does it need charged? What the fuck did I waste my money on? I plugged the controller into the dock and it's lighting up all different colors so I'm assuming it's charging.
But what is going on for anyone who has the system? Any ideas?

No idea.
I had one like that as well.
But sold it to some sucker instead of dealing with it.

what do you mean lighting up in different colors? is it a playstation controller or a different brand? both of my controllers only have red lights on them.

Sorry, the charging dock rotates colors...like it's charging. It's the actual PS controller.karen lotz;1340486 wrote:what do you mean lighting up in different colors? is it a playstation controller or a different brand? both of my controllers only have red lights on them.

so it is charging for sure? let it charge fully. can you plug it in to the USB port directly with the cord that comes with the system?

seems the controller is messed up. Sticky buttons maybe?
Congrats, prev owner probably used it to spank his bait while watching netflix

Borrowed a controller from a friend. It works fine with that one. Just a controller issue.
