Odd Airline Experiences

A friend of mine recently flew from Canton to Ft. Myers with connection in Atlanta on a Thursday. She had a direct return flight on Sunday to Canton.

They were late leaving Canton because they discovered the fuel truck was empty when they went to load fuel onto the plane! WTF???? What kind of dumb ass worker do you have to be not to know your fuel truck is empty? It messed with some passenger's connecting flights but my friend took the same plane to Ft. Myers.

Returning to Canton my friend did the online check-in and chose to sit in the same seat she had flying down to Florida. Upon arrival at Canton and taxiing to the gate, she checked the pocket in front of her and found two boarding passes... with her name on them. They were the passes she accidently left there 4 days earlier!

Yes, airlines have had to cut corners to keep prices down. Tickets would probably cost more if they actually had competent airline staff to fuel the plane and clean them!

Airline was Airtran.

I know... Cool story.

I've never had an odd airline experience and pretty much just remember the terrible ones. I guess it's odd when I take a shit and then have to look the person in the eye who's waiting in line.

I was on a plane that caught on fire on the tarmack after boarding! Sitting in Charlotte for 2 hours after maintenace repaired the "problem" they wanted us to reboard the same plane. A small revolt by the passeners suggested otherwise.

Some bitch on my flight was denied access to boarding the plane, because she was too intoxicated lol. Other than that, no odd stories other than some frustrating delays.

My flight to Cancun was delayed because someone's oxygen mask came down. It was just at random (we were boarded, just sitting at the gate). Delayed us about 30 minutes or so. I haven't experienced anything weird other than that.

I usually fly Southwest. On a few occassions the flight attendants make jokes while giving the on board flight instructions.

I've never dropped a deuce on a plane. Hell, I think I've only taken a piss once or twice and I've flown a decent number of times. I hate getting up and walking around on planes for some reason. Especially when I have to climb over someone I don't know.

Worst experience I had was a flight to either Portland or SF (can't remember the exact trip) and someone was transporting a cat. The damn things just meowed the entire time. And it was loud as shit and constant. No friggin' breaks. Just "meow meow meow meow meow MEOW MEOW MEOW MEOW." For 4 hours.

I'm always afraid there will be turbulence when I'm in the bathroom.

No odd stories here. Only flown twice, once on ATA and once on AirTran. AirTran is one of the cheapest outfits out there. If I had to fly again, I'd definitely pay a little more for a better flight. I'm down with the Greyhounds with Wings.

Yeah, I got hit on by some drunk married chic on a flight. Thankfully it was a short flight. She was pretty nappy, too, for those of you thinking I shoulda hit it.

Other than that, I don't know about "odd". Went thru some of the BS delays when US Air (?) pilot/mechanics union was protesting and acting up to screw with corporate.

Another time I had a flight canceled, and got on the next flight via standby (2 of us out of like 20, I had decent status).

I sit down all happy because the next flight was going to be 5 hours later. Then they kick me and the other standby off because the plane was too heavy - I shit you not. And I lit into the stewardess, and the ticket agent outside the gate, that it was complete BS to kick us off because some moron put too much luggage from the canceled flight on the plane.

Well, apparently some rocket scientist decided the quick and easy solution was - you can't make this up - to take off some fuel. I got back on and the plane took off, about 45 minutes late.

I like to think I was an asshole for getting the flight delayed, but I know that really had nothing to do with it. Just pure airline incompetence.

I don't really have any odd airline experiences.

I once spilled a full glass of v8 on myself 5 minutes into an 8 hour flight. Conveniently I had a change of clothes in my carryon. Now I only drink sprite or tea. (I washed my clothes as well as I could in the bathroom and then shoved them into a separate compartment of my carryon. They were disgusting when I took them out the next day.)

I also didn't leave myself and my wife much time for a layover in Toronto. They paged us as we were going through customs and we had to run to the flight. As we were running my wife tells me "I can't run any more. Go on without me." As if I was going to leave her in Canada and go on vacation by myself. LOFL.

Had a guy with a medical emergency 2 winters ago on a flight from Columbus to Orlando. We were close enough to Orlando that we didn't have to reroute. Everything was remarkably calm but the flight staff all had this serious look on their faces....not sure what happened but they ended up taking him straight to the hospital

Did I sit next to you? Same thing happened to me in Aug.

Also I sat next to a fat person on a plane once. No elbow room to be had.

There's no other solution to this, but to kill that cat.

Lesson learned: before agreeing to switch seats, always see who you might be sitting next to. I had a lady ask me to switch seats, and I assumed she just wanted to sit next to her friend. Turns out I was stuck next to an unaccompanied minor (about 10) for a 4-hr flight. Kid could not sit still and was just beyond annoying with all the jumping and shiting around.

That lady? She wasn't sitting next to a friend she just didn't want to sit next to the kid. After the flight I said to her "well played". She gave me a sly, knowing smile.

My only odd story is that we had a group of 6 on vacation, went on a cruise departing from florida and were catching our flight back home (me, brother, mom, dad, girlfriend, brother's wife)

We are running late and literally running through the airport in miami to catch our flight. My girlfriend (now wife, we were about 17 when this happened) and I are leading the pack and get to the gate, hand over our tickets and keep on moving (we find out the plane was literally leaving in like 30 seconds). We turn around on the plane and notice they are shutting the doors, nobody came in behind us.

We sit in our seats and my mom calls from the airport to tell us they had filled their seats with standby people since we were running so close to the departure time, so only me and my girlfriend made it on....So, we get to Detroit and have to wait like 3 hours in the airport for the rest of the group to arrive on a later flight.

I had a very odd experience a couple of years ago. I flew US Air out of Columbus to Washington D.C. The plane took off on time and landed in D.C. on time. When I got to the baggage claim area, both of my bags showed up on time. It just doesn't get more odd than that.

Sounds made up. :p
