We now have 70 eligible teams, exactly how many we need. Pitt, UConn and Georgia Tech could still become eligible next week. If they do, that'll knock out a couple MAC and/or Sun Belt teams.
Ga Tech needs to win the ACC Championship game to become bowl eligible. smh.

The Georgia/Alabama loser will NOT make a BCS game. Not with Florida sitting with 1 loss.
Oklahoma, with a win and BY DEFAULT, will get the last at-large bid. Oregon and Florida will get the others.
Hopefully, the Orange Bowl sticks with tradition, and they likely will have to with the Fiesta Bowl getting the top selection and the Sugar Bowl losing their champion to the BCSNCG, and be forced to play a "nobody cares" game between the ACC and Big East.

A 7-5 Wisconsin to Outback over a 9-3 Northwestern? I'm not sure about that.

Unlike the Capital One Bowl (who has to take a team within 1 game of the best available eligible school), the Outback Bowl could pick who they wanted and is not constrained by any eligibility rules in-terms of selection.
Michigan, at 8-4, is eligible for the Capital One Bowl (only a game back of the highest available eligible team) and is almost a lock given their following. The Outback Bowl would then select whoever they felt would be the biggest draw...and of the schools, Wisconsin and Nebraska would be far bigger draws than Northwestern...

Kent State's all the way up at No. 17, meaning a win over NIU would put them in very good shape to make the BCS, especially if UCLA loses. Don't count Boise State or NIU out yet, either. Sooners fans should probably root for Northern Illinois and Nevada and UCLA this weekend, though.

I understand that the Outback Bowl can pick whatever team they want, but from a fundamental fairness perspective, I would expect a lot of pressure from the B1G to select teams based on record, not based on fan following. It would be bad if, e.g., a few years from now a 6-6 Nebraska team were selected over a 10-2 Northwestern or Indiana team, even if Nebraska would be the better draw. Was it necessary for teams to get waivers last year in order to fill all the bowls? If so, GT shouldn't get a waiver this year a I believe there are already 70 bowl eligible teams without GT. I'd love to see this one :thumbup:In particular, the Fiesta Bowl matchup of Oregon and Kansas State, the possible Rose Bowl between Nebraska and Stanford, Hazell's Kent State against Malzahn's Arkansas State in the GoDaddy.com bowl, and the Wolverines vs. Manziel and Texas A&M all look like high quality bowl matchups.
