It has been rumored for a couple months but, today it was officially cancelled. The NHL and Bettman are both a joke. Bettman is easily the worst sports Commish. When the great one played hockey was up there with the NFL, MLB, and NBA. Now its a distant 4th at best and possibly worse. The All Star game would have been good for Columbus and the fans.

Actually, Bettman and the owners are at fault here.

I'm really disgusted with the NHL once again. I was really thinking about season tix for the Blues this year but I guess that's out. I can't understand all of this, especially when the fans were starting to come back all the way after the last lockout. Do these bozos really want their league to shrivel up and die.

About the only positive for me is that I don't have to pay for Center Ice this year, at least not full price.

Bettman is too worried to crush the union than get playing again. These guys are all morons, the players make cash overseas while the owners lose tons and tons of cash. Bettman doesn't care about the game, just his rep

How disapointed the 6 season ticket holders in Cbus must be.

I'm kinda in the same boat, where I could see me watching the playoffs if the Pens are in them, but pretty much nothing else (and the "watching playoffs" part is a big IF). When it comes to winter, I'm always big into football (pro and college) and college basketball, with baseball getting my attention when spring starts...so the NHL usually has a lot of competition for my viewing time.

With this abso-fucking-lutely stupid stoppage, I'm finding it more difficult to care about things related to hockey day by day. Great idea, you fucking idiots...you have the fourth most popular sport among the four main team pro sports in the greater North American area. You also have the worst TV deal of the four. So let's make it so NO ONE FUCKING CARES ANY MORE!!!!!

Here's a legit question. Hockey's always been more popular in Canada and Europe than in the U.S., so would there be any possibility of someone setting up something similar to what soccer has where the true power leagues are over there? It'd serve Bettman and the NHL right to wind up being a lesser-caliber league loaded with players who aren't quite Euro-caliber with the occasional past-his-prime celeb player like Beckham was for the Galaxy.

I'm done with the NHL. This is coming from a former CBJ season ticket holder.

The thing that pissed me off the most was Bettman saying that "the NHL has the greatest fans. They came back last time, they'll come back again."

This was back in Aug. or Sept.
After a brief, 90-minute negotiating session with the NHLPA in which nothing was really bargained and nothing was gained on either side, Bettman was asked about the damage another lockout could do.

We recovered last time because we have the world's greatest fans,” Bettman said.

That, in a nutshell, is why the owners are willing to do it again. They know the sport will recover. They have past history to prove it.
