Any recommendations for cleaning/washing fitted baseball caps? I have a couple that are getting pretty griney, and I'd like to clean them up a bit. I'm afraid to put them in the washer because they'll surely get beat up. Tonight, someone was telling me about how their brothers always put theirs in the top rack of the dishwashing machine. Has anyone else herd of this? Do you trust it?
What do people do to clean theirs?

LMAO. Great thread. I've tried washing a cap or two and it just ruined them - faded the color and didn't take the stains out.
Dishwasher seems a bad idea because the water gets VERY hot - shrinkage and fading for sure. I'm thinking you soak and wash them by hand.

Don't put it through the dishwasher. If it is that important soak it in biz and cold water.

baseball caps are meant to look worn and beat up.

You can use warm water and Woolite to hand wash them.

I have a form similar to the one in like_that's link. I have used it in the dishwasher dozens of times and never had one shrink or fade. Just don't use the hottest (pots & pans) setting.

Have my fav hat I wash once a year. Its one I use to run in and it is nasty, nasty, nasty. I "wash" by wearing it while I snorkel at the lake on vacation each year!
but yeah...washing hats can be a pain. Handwash in the sink is about the best to do

I run it through the laundry with other clothes. Have had the hat for 10 years. It's awesome. I'll be buried wearing it (if my dog doesn't stop eating it...)
