Does anyone on here use Yelp. It's basically an app that let's users rate businesses. It will give you reviews and directions to the business you choose. I have grown to use the app more and more. Anytime I'm traveling I'll use it to find out what around me and what I should visit. My girlfriend and I have also started using it to locate new restaurants in the Columbus area to try out on the weekends. we have found some great places to try.

The things I've used Yelp for today
1) A 24 hour urgent care ( damn pink eye)
2) to find the closest dry cleaner open after 6pm
3) a romantic restaurant in Chicago for our visit next month
4) a new restaurant to try tomorrow

Everyone on Yelp seems to hate everything. Urbanspoon seems more accurate for food/bars

while this is kinda true because most of the time people who enjoy their meal/service dont take the time to comment and its mostly those who have a bad experience or and extremely good experience leave feedback. but if you read through enough comments you can usually get a feel for a place and see the truth from posters who seem to give fair assessments after throwing out the outliers.

Yelp is shady. I used to use it but try to stay away from it now. It's okay in a pinch.

I agree with this. I normally check urbanspoon anyway because I feel it gives more information. But I normally do read to much into reviews or anything just look for a place that meets what I am looking for. If I like it I'll try and go back sometime... if I don't I probably won't.

All the time for bars and restaurants. You just gotta be aware of the idiots that complain about everything.....such as bitching about a $15 drink when the establishment has a $$$$ rating.

mostly i look at it or any other similar place for things like to see if a place is clean or dirty or something specific like that that i want to know. especially with hotels

Basically, there's a bunch of assholes in the world.
