Not sure if this is something you guys are already doing in threads or not, but when threads start to get a little out of control step in with a warning post. Something to the effect of:
Just stepping in because this thread is getting out of hand. This is everyone's warning. Anything clearly against the rules after this point WILL be infracted.
Then, no one can complain when they receive an infraction later. Is this already happening and I just don't read enough threads? These next few months are going to suck, I am not going to have much time to spend on here with work and wrestling practice and a freelance side project I will be working on.

Perhaps thread bans should be used immediately when people break rules in threads. Might keep people from going all "fuck you!" knowing they won't be able to participate in the thread at all if they do it. Won't even be able to read it.

I gave a warning in the ND Worst nightmare thread. Of course, I didnt get back on till about an hour ago and it seemed to semi work. Still lots of trolling, but not a lot of name calling. So that part worked. I might go in and thread ban, but as usual, its a bit late 24 hours later.

Doesn't look like it, no match. I don't think the ISP that goes to that name is even available where SQ lives.LJ;1320501 wrote:ThePatriot=Sq?

Ah, they were all Cingular which would be ATT phones, makes sense.LJ;1320550 wrote:All the ips I got when i searched were phone ips
Either way, none say his name so they at least never overlapped.

like_that brought up a good point in S&Ls whining thread. When someone shows signs of being a dick give them a warning (the infraction type so they get a PM). Let them know a thread ban is the next step if they don't cool it. If they don't cool it, thread ban. His second point sucked, no way are we going to keep track of who is thread banned and for how long they've been banned to have a schedule of allowing them back in a thread.

It'd work, but I have one question: what if it's a person who tends to have issues with certain threads in general (Sleeper on ND, etc.)? Do we warn them every single time they start trying to derail a thread or after a while just get to the point where we're just like "fuck it...you've been warned and banned 56 times this month, so yeah...you're gone..."?justincredible;1320771 wrote:like_that brought up a good point in S&Ls whining thread. Piggybacking off of Heretic, I really see no point in changing policy to appease any of the 6 or so assholes who will represent 90% of the thread bans. Who gives a fuck what sleeper, like_that, CoA, S&L, CGW, speedofsand, etc. want.
