Did anyone take the plunge?

I updated my main machine last week and it is kind of starting to grow on me. It will take some getting used to, though...

I'm not 100% sure what the price will be but I'm almost positive it's a healthy discount off of retail.

I upgraded my laptop using this on Friday night.

So far it seems alright. It's just a matter of determining/remembering how to get to shit that used to be in the start menu

My biggest deal with it was finding the control panel. Took me way too long to find it.

Having trouble installing Windows 8 on one of my desktops. Just stays at the black screen with the blue Window logo forever with no loading animation or anything. Will stay there for hours. Internet has so far not been helpful.

If I had a touchscreen I'd be all over it. But I'll wait - if I get a tablet in the future, I might consider one running Windows and then it might make sense to upgrade my computer.

For the most part, I keep a pretty minimal homescreen and the less I need to interface with Windows, the better. I've get all my quick launches and bookmarks and don't really need anything else.

I think using a touchscreen monitor would be a pain in the ass. It would be cool at first, until your arms got tired. I really think you'll see a device out soon that is like a touch sensitive mousepad, that you can just use your finger to move around the screen. Like the drawing pads without the pen.

Clean install or upgrade? You might try pulling the network prior to the install so it can't try and slipstream and updates.

Tried both ways. No dice. Quite confused and I don't really want to start delving deep right meow. I have a feeling it's SSD related somehow. Just gut feeling there.

If you think it's the SSD, you could always try changing the SATA operation to IDE instead of AHCI/RAID and see if you get any further.
