My bad, didn't realize that was a premium link.

In a nut shell... 4* OL Jordan Diamond was a highly touted recruit from Chicago. Through out his whole recruitment, he talked about how he wanted to stay close to home. His final three were Michigan, Ohio State and Notre Dame. About a day or two before signing day, there were rumblings that OSU and Michigan had decided to no longer pursue him, and at the time it was made to believe that they gave up because he was going to Notre Dame. In a shocker, he signed with Auburn on signing day. The Chicago Tribune thought it was all strange, so they investigated. Apparently he admitted to a few close friends and family members that Auburn gave him $50,000 to sign. Tribune will be releasing their findings next week.

Glad Auburn is going to burn then... everyone knows they bought Newton. They just happened to get away with it somehow.

I think all 3 finalists felt that way.

Should be interesting to see where it goes. They'll need pretty hard evidence - and/or multiple corroborating sources with airtight stories - for it to stick. I somehow feel like Auburn will slip out of the NCAA's grasp.

I'll pay attention when it's actually published. And after the Cam incident, it seems Auburn knows how to do this and get away with it. I wouldn't get too excited yet.

LOL....more NCAA crap. Certainly a case like this is what the NCAA should be pursuing.

This. Unless they can come up with a paper trail leading back to Auburn itself and not just a friend of the program, I'll assume they wiggle off the hook again. I'm not familiar with the kid, did he play in any games for them?
On a side note, is Chizik the worst coach to ever win a national title?

This story sounds way too simple to be true? Hope Auburn gets busted though and hopefully they are able to unearth more on the Cam Newton case while they're at it. Still can't believe he got away with it

I suspect that Auburn will enact the SEC policy of lie, lie, lie, deny, deny, deny, self-impose a scholarship loss....then the NCAA will go away.

Makes me wonder of this is why Derrick Green is having trouble making a commitment.

Because the NCAA realized that if Auburn didn't get away with it when the story came out, they'd have to live in a world where a non-BCS team (Boise) might end up in their precious national championship game. $$$ trumps the law any day of the week in NCAA-ville.

when it comes to the NCAA, a program only gets punished when it comes to free tatoos,,,,nothing has been done to Oregon to date( my belief is that NIKE pays to keep the program out of trouble) as well as the Miami Hurricanes either. i highly doubt that North Carolina receives much punishment for their class they do not have to attend more than 2 times a quarter and write an essay for an A ! they even pass the class if they never attend it either.

Tell this to Memphis, Florida A&M, Central Florida, Southern California, Indiana, Connecticut and Baylor, just to name a few of recent note.
