Thursday night a buddy of mine tells me his friend his heading to Delaware to place bets on the games sunday and asks if i want to place any parlay bets. I say sure why not and tell him I'm good for $20 bucks. Friday I send him my picks. I did the 5 for 5 which pays out 20 to 1, so if i get them right i'll win $400 bucks.

Yesterday my friend tells me his buddy wouldn't spot the $20 dollars and didn't place my bet for me (side note: My friend wasn't even going to tell me this, he only did because i brought it up sunday that i felt good about my picks). My friend said he'd even cover the bet but his friend was too cheap to put down an extra $20. Anyways, i picked all 5 games against the spread and should have won $400 yesterday, but since that guy was too cheap to spot $20, I'm out the $400.

Just curious how people on the OC would react to this and what they'd do.

(I realize this is me QQing, but I would've liked to have $400 extra in my pocket today)

I totally agree, but I wasn't going to be able to meet the guy placing the bets. My friend said he'd spot me the money. I'm more upset he wasn't going to tell me about it and also pissed that the guy placing the bets thought his own friend would stiff him out of $20 bucks. It's just someone being super cheap especially when they'd get their money.

I'd of course be pissed but ultimately wouldn't do anything about it. Maybe something minor like bang your friends mom but nothing big.

If he HAD placed the bet you woulda lost, so he really just saved you twenty bucks.

I guess, but I don't know the guy placing the bets and my buddy said he'd cover for me. Basically, a friends friend didn't trust he'd get 20 bucks from someone he makes bets with every week. I'm just bummed that someone was a cheap skate over 20 bucks.

Murphys law...probably true. At least I knew before the games started. If i called him today to collect and he told me I would've been really pissed.

the guy placing the bet is good friends with my friend, and even with my good friend telling him he'd pay him, he didn't do it. More pissed that someone asked if i wanted to place one, told me it'd be covered, and then only told me it wasn't cause i brought it up in conversation.
